Pre-purchase of ex-CAI RTW
On the * alliance FT thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum82/HTML/001599.html there are apparently cases of an ex-CAI * RTW being delivered in Europe or Canada at CAI prices (for travel starting in CAI). So it is just for the convenience of already having the RTW ticket when you arrive in CAI on another ticket. Does this same possibility exist for OW, and if not, where is the difference in the rules between * and OW?

67N . * WHEN TRAVEL ORIGINATES IN A COUNTRY FOR WHICH A
68N . SPECIFIED LOCAL CURRENCY FARE IS PUBLISHED AND 69N . TICKET IS SOLD IN ANOTHER COUNTRY, THE EQUIVALENT 70N . AMOUNT MUST BE THE FARE CONVERTED USING THE BSR 71N . OR THE FARE APPLICABLE FOR ORIGIN IN THE COUNTRY 72N . OF SALE, WHICHEVER IS HIGHER. |
Thank you , Burkey, that answers the first part of my question. But is Star different?
Also, I guess there is no discrepancy between published rules and actual practice? |
No. *A has the same rule. The instances of LH ticketing in Germany the ex-CAI fare are in violation of the following *A rule (emphasis added):
<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> D. When travel originates in one country and the ticket is sold in another country the fare will be that applicable from the country of origin converted to the currency of the country of sale at the bankers selling rate. The resultant fare must not be lower than the lowest applicable Star Alliance RTW fare from the country of sale. Exception: not applicable for sales made and/or travel originating in Canada. </font> |
Thanks, ExMo, all my questions are now answered.
I guess any more specific discussions on these matters are not suitable to be held in this honourable forum. |
