Quick confirmation of AONE4 routing please

Hi all

I would very much appreciate if someone can review the following RTW routing (ex CAI of course!!) and confirm it fits withing the rules:

CAI-LHR (stopover)
LHR-LAX
LAX-LAS rtn (stopover in LAS)
LAX-SYD
SYD-MEL rtn (stopover in MEL)
SYD-HKG
HKG-NRT
NRT-LHR (stopover)
LHR-CAI

Can I add a separate round-trip from LHR to BUD? In this case I would fly straight through CAI-LHR-BUD and stop in London on the return from BUD before the LAX leg.

I guess there would be no worries if instead of flying LHR-LAX I could go trans-US in hops eg:

LHR-JFK
JFK-DFW
DFW-LAX
LAX-LAS rtn
LAX-SYD etc

Reading the rules - I take it I cannot fly CAI-LAX-HKG-MEL-HKG-LHR-CAI? (Ie because I would be backtracking between the continents of Asia and Australia?)

Many thanks, in advance, for your comments.

Regards

WG

Original route is good for *ONE4 rule.

Yes, you can.
Only two stopoers are permitted in the continet of origin.

LAX-SYD etc

You are allowed 6 segments in North America. So you can enjoy above route.

There is an exeption of backtracking.
27N . 3. 1 INTERCONTINENTAL DEPARTURE AND 1
28N . . INTERCONTINENTAL ARRIVAL PERMITTED IN EACH
29N . CONTINENT EXCEPT AS FOLLOWS:

38N . B. 2 PERMITTED IN ASIA, 1 MUST BE A TRANSIT
39N . WITHOUT STOPOVER OR ON DIRECT SINGLE PLANE
40N . SERVICE BETWEEN THE SOUTHWEST PACIFIC AND
41N . EUROPE.

So, you can
CAI-xLHR-BUD-xLHR-LAX-HKG-MEL-xHKG-LHR-CAI
x denotes transit point

Thanks for the confirmation.

Interesting regarding the rules on backtracking... being able to do the ...LAX-HKG-MEL-HKG-LHR... sectors means more status credits which is excellent news!

Many thanks for the quick reply.

I'm looking at the same routing, except I also wanted to add HKG-JNB-HKG.

I think that's legal???

Wasabi Tofu Dec 18, 2003 9:04 am

Unfortunately, you can not fly HKG-JNB-HKG route.
Basically, only 1 intercontinental departure and 1 intercontinental arrival are permitted in eath continent.
So, N.America - HKG - JNB - HKG - Europe is not permitted because of 2 intercontinental departures and arrivals (at HKG).

Wasabi Tofu Dec 18, 2003 9:09 am

Futhermore, this route violates following rule. HKG is Area 3(IATA TC3), JNB is Area 2(IATA TC2).

18N . 2. TRAVEL MUST BE IN A CONTINUOUS FORWARD
19N . DIRECTION BETWEEN AREA 1-AREA-2-AREA 3.
20N . BACKTRACK WITHIN A CONTINENT IS PERMITTED
21N . EXCEPT AS FOLLOWS:
22N . -TRAVEL VIA THE ORIGINAL POINT OF ORIGIN NOT
23N . PERMITTED.
