slight changes to explorer rules

Effective immediately, several amendements have been made to the Oneworld Explorer Fare Rules (AONE*/DONE*/L#ONE*):

Booking codes for AA revised for domestic flights: AA DOMESTIC FLIGHTS 3000-5999 First: Y Business: Y Economy: L

Concorde option deleted.

Origin TC1, prior to departure, after ticketing, changes to the first international flight and preceding flights are not permitted less than 7 days prior to the date of the first ticketed flight.

BA affiliate Duo Airways deleted.

..from Qantas industry web site.

Those would be American Eagle flights, which only have a Y cabin. At least for A & D fares there will not be the availability issue that there used to be when those segments had to be booked in M/L.

It is good that they are opening up Eagle availability. Flying on AONE3 I had problems a few times in the past (though a call to EXP desk which referred to RTW desk did fix these).

the eagle is an improvement.
in the past you have to book M even if you are on AONE5

Isn't the other change an improvement, too? I thought the old rule was "no changes to the first international segment after ticketing" (unless you want to start over). Now it sounds like you can wait until near departure and reschedule the whole thing for six months later with no penalty.

Thanks. This msg saved me $100. I had to book a flight between SJC-SAN and L-class was full so they sold me Q-class for $100 extra, all other flights that day were full in L also.(BTW I'm on a DONE3). After two phone calls to my travel agent they were able to confirm me in Y and didn't have to pay the $100. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

First, why use a valuable segment on an AE flight when most are of short duration ? But, more important, how does this affect other OW airlines? As QF changes many intra-Australia flights to 1 class service and if they are not booked into Y class, no miles for the discounted L class.

Do anyone know how I can convey this info to the BA? I booked my ticket in UK's BA travel shop and she cannot find the change for Eagle flight in BA's rule..
so she forced me to take a later flight.
(L is closed for waitlist, and Y9)

Point her to her employers travel trade extranet and she'll find the new rules there

Or simply ring up BA and ask for the round-the-world desk. Those folks are generally much more knowledgeable than the ones on the street, who don't do so much "exotic" stuff. You should get the flight you want in a jiffy.
