Round the world trip
hello,
My friend and i are going on a trip for one year and we want to use the global explorer or the one world ticket (from Qantas and British airways). But we find several problems. The ideal route for us is: Madagascar-Buenos Aires (going down to Patagonia to Punta Arenas)-Falklands-Punta Arenas(going up to Santiago)-Easter island-Auckland-Honiara-Jakarta and then going back home. Our first problem is going to Madagascar, we already find out that it is impossible to get there with a RTW-ticket, so normally we are going to take a extra ticket from johannesburg, Nairobi or Mauritius to Madagascar because we really want to get there. But our second problem is going from Africa to South-America. We can fly with Iberia back to Europe(madrid) and then to Buenos Aires, but are we allowed to do this? We only want to do a transfer in Madrid, don't stay there. If that is possible it cost us extra miles, so maybe it is better to take the one world ticket. That is our next problem, we know that we can go from Auckland, via Suva to Honiara with Air Pacific, but is air Pacific in the one world ticket, or only in the global explorer? Have we to fly back from Honiara to Sidney to get from there to Jakarta or are there other possibilities? And if we are going to Easter Island, do we first fly back to Santiago or can we fly from Easter island to Auckland with lan Chile or Iberia. The most important of our trip is Madagascar- Patagonia and New zealand, in that order because of the seasons. With the rest we are flexibel but if it is possible to do than is it for us the perfect route. thank you for answering Tinneke |
For the first part, if you start your trip in Europe and fly to Africa you cannot come back to Europe (even in transit to S America) unless your path there passes through Ghana or Nigeria. But CAI is in Europe, so perhaps you can find a cheap RT from there to Madagascar, then continue as you suggested. If it fits your plans you may also want to look at your eastbound choices. Then you can leave Africa to Asia or Australia.
