Buying a one-way ticket to CAI

Anyone had experience buying a one-way ticket to CAI?

I am thinking of getting a one-way BA F ticket YVR x/JFK x/LHR-CAI, and another CAI x/LHR x/JFK YVR once I get to CAI (not enough time for a long vacation to take advantage of AONE3). Two one-ways (return portion must be ticketed in CAI in order not to be charged "higher intermediate fares") work out cheaper than a roundtrip.

How likely will the immigration people at CAI ask to see a "return or onward" ticket? or should I buy a seperate ticket CAI-LHR and exchange it for a CAI-LHR-JFK-YVR ticket at the BA ticket office at CAI?

On the two occasions I have been to Cairo to collect AONE3s I have not had any return or onward ticket and I have never been asked for one.

In theory, yes, Egyptian immigration do require that you show proof of onward travel. However, if you've got a stack of credit cards and your onward itinerary, I hardly think they'll be fussed on this occasion.

I'm with Christep. Perhaps if you look like a vagrant they may inquire about your resources, but the couple of times I've arrived there they had no interest in how I was going to leave. [Who did care recently? Male? Colombo? Tokyo?]

You are unlikely ever to be asked for an onward or return ticket or sufficient funds if you arrive on any Western passport. I have come and gone from Egypt for years and never been asked. You could, if you wanted to, become a "resident tourist" for periods up to 364 days at minimal expense. This, with a "return visa", gives you the right to come and go at will. "Tourist residence" can be renewed easily.

I've had, and I don't need a visa to enter Egypt either. But if you're that unsure, buy a full F roundtrip and refund the return portion when you've come home with the other ticket issued in CAI.
