DONE4 questions
 

I am putting together a DONE4. Although I have done several before, this one might be a little different, so I would like some comments/help:

When starting in Europe, going on to Asia and then ANZ, is it possible to return home (USA) via NRT, there wouldn't be a stopover?

What type seating in First is now used to/from NRT to/from ORD/DFW?

Not allowed, the 2nd entry to Asia is only allowed for travel between Europe and SWP. AA uses 6 across coffins out of NRT in F; no sign of conversion to Flagship suites on these planes yet. You'd have to go Europe-Australia-Asia-US if you wanted this routing.

While what #6 says is how most people interpret the relevant rule, a few people have reported here that they have been able to persuade ticketing people to allow the second transit in Asia between SWP and NA. I think to be sure you'll need to talk to whoever is going to ticket it for you.

Has anyone any experience of trying to get BA, AA or IB in CAI to route that way?

In looking at the wording of the rule

ONLY ONE INTERCONTINENTAL DEPARTURE AND ONE
INTERCONTINENTAL ARRIVAL IS PERMITTED IN EACH CONTINENT - EXCEPT AS FOLLOWS:

2)TWO PERMITTED IN ASIA WHEN ONE IS A TRANSFER WITHOUT STOPOVER OR ON DIRECT SINGLE PLANE SERVICES BETWEEN THE SOUTH WEST PACIFIC AND EUROPE;

It seems pretty clear that it should be possible to take a transit back through Asia to the US. My impression of the explicit mention of Europe is in relation to the QF and BA flights that have a single flight number, thus there's no actual transit (even though they do stop in Asia).

The problem is that some printed versions of the rule (and many offices interpretation of the rule) have two extra commas.

Yeah, those commas would certainly make a big change to the context of the rule! I look forward to seeing if anyone has any success with this too, was contemplating it for future travels as well, otherwise it'll be doing the transit on the leg to Europe I guess http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif.
