South America Routing

Hi, sorry but I'm new to this ticket. Going to travel around the world and want to fly from UK to Rio, around s/america a bit, Santiago to Easter Island, onto Tahiti, New Zealand and onwards. Am being given different information everytime I speak to someone (sta, trailfinders). Does anyone know if you can do this route as I've been told I can't go from Santiago to Easter Island. Want to use oneworld ticket and not mileage ticket. Cheers.

LAN Chile, and only LAN Chile, flies from Santiago to Easter Island (and on to Papeete). This is no big aviation secret; schedules are on all the standard sites. The last time I looked, there was no oneworld metal from Papeete to Auckland, but there was a Qantas code share. LAN Chile does fly from Santiago non-stop to Auckland.

I've got a OWE coming up with flights to and from Easter Island included for January, so there's definitely no problems in getting that added (Easter Island is considered part of South America, as opposed to SW Pacific).

If you're wanting to go directly from Easter Island to Tahiti and on to New Zealand it's probably worth looking at a Global Explorer ticket. That lets you use the Qantas codeshares out of Tahiti and other places around the Pacific, so gets you there directly.

Otherwise you'll need to buy or use an award booking to bridge the gap between Tahiti and New Zealand.
