AA CTO in Cairo experiences?
I am preparing a *ONE ticket originating in CAI. Does anyone have any experiences ticketing this in Cairo with AA's agent on the ground? The RTW desk has given me the contact information of the person on the ground and say that he is usually tries to accomodate people's schedules but they have not additional information. How easy is it to ticket with him? I would assume he is closed on Friday, but is he open on Saturday? Any experiences/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I have cross posted in AA forum. Thanks. |

If you make the reservations through the AA RTW desk, with the intention of having BA in Cairo ticket it, I'm not sure how well that works - no doubt, others can comment on that. I do know that when I set up a reservation using the AA desk, to be ticketed in Australia, their view was that I would have to use the AA office in Sydney to ticket it and not the Qantas office in Brisbane as "QF will have to re-do the whole reservation". Doesn't make a lot of sense, I know, but when I visited a contact in the QF office in Brisbane and got him to pull up the reservation, all the BA and QF legs showed up .... but all the AA legs (which were in the middle) just weren't there (didn't show). BA and QF use Amadeus (I think) and AA uses Sabre .... and apparently they don't interface/talk to each other very well. I ended up getting the AA office in Sydney to ticket it. As for AA in Cairo, I vaguely recall some discussion that it isn't really an AA person in Cairo - rather some "local representative" .... the BA office seems to be the way to go. No doubt, many others can provide advice. |
At least one FT'er pm'ed to say he had had a very successful ticketing experience using domestic AA to do the reservations, and the AA agent (a third-party agency with a contract relationship to AA) in CAI to issue the ticket. One downside imho was that the agent wanted funds wired, not a c/c. A plus was that tix probably could be issued farther ahead of travel than BA typically does them.

I just picked up an AONE4 at the AA CTO in Cairo a few weeks ago. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. |
I picked up my ticket from AA agent in Cairo just about a week ago. While they do have a preference for wired funds because of CC fraud they did take a Diner's Charge so long as you sign the CC slip.
I made the reservations through the AA RTW desk and had Omnia at EMECO book me at the Nile Hilton for $77 including taxes and breakfast. I paid for the $18 meet and greet and signed my receipt at the hotel. Everything was as smooth as silk. I'm in the middle of the trip now in Jakarta and could be more happy with EMECO's service. Email me if you want her contact info. [This message has been edited by EMagination (edited 10-14-2003).] |
