AY boarding passes
 

i've recently got AA Gold/OW Ruby
and the AY flight i've just been on was
my 1st flight after becoming AA Gold.
the boarding pass didn't show my OW status
but the checkin agent did input my AAdvantage
# at checkin since the miles have posted.
i've read before that even if you don't have
the AA Gold card (haven't got it in the
mai yet), your status will be printed on the
bp. is that true only when flying with AA ?
and doesn't show when flying with AY ?
until my card arrives, how can i checkin
at the Biz counterse (i'm flying CX next) ?

I believe it will only show your AA status on AA's boarding passes. If they are giving you s***, just say you are oneworld ruby.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your AA Gold/OW Ruby will not let you check-in at the business class counters, except for AA check-in counters. There is a delay between the OW carriers, but my AA status has always been on QF/BA/CX boarding passes.

As a OW Ruby you can indeed check-in at the business class counters of all OW carriers regardless of travel class. I believe also that there just must be a delay in transfering your info, since my AY status has also always printed on BA,AA,IB boarding passes.

If the booking was made before hitting AA Gold, it's possible the status has not been updated. I had this problem when I first hit BA Gold. I travelled about 4 days after status was showing on the website, but the BP still printed showing me as Silver. It might be worth calling AA/CX to get your AAdvantage number re-entered into the booking - the status should then update.

If you are worried about being denied the benefits entitled to you, a printout from the AA website showing your status should suffice.

That is correct. I flew on an AA award ticket the day of the new programme year for AAdvantage. My BP showed me as a PLT while I had just dropped to GLD. The teturn tickets showed me at GLD.

i got my AA Gold status on June 18th
i flew on AY on July 31st and Aug 5th
about 40 days should be more then enough to have my status updated in their system right ? i only gave AY my AAdvantage # on the day of my flight.

so normally is your status printed on the BP no matter which OW carrier you're on ?

You should be able to check in at a business class position, but some agents don't honor this policy. See this thread

for one FTer's negative experience with LAN Chile in Lima in this regard. (I know that's not where you'll be, but I doubt the problem is unique to that airline or city.)

Not always, no. I would say on mine about half the time.

It varies. When I fly AY, my OW status does show on boarding passes issued in the US, but not on boarding passes issued in places like SVO.
