AONE4 assistance
Hi all,
Thanks for the help a couple of months back with the ONE routing. Now that all the stops are added, I am trying to work out how to squeeze out the last two flights. This will be credited to QF so preference is for QF/BA/AA flights or flight numbers. The routing I have so far is; Seg. Routing Airline Class Continent 1. CAI-LHR BA A E 2. LHR–LAX BA A 3. LAX-DFW AA A NA 4. DFW-CUN AA D NA (stop) 5. CUN-ORD AA D NA 6. ORD–TVC AA M NA (stop) 7. TVC-ORD AA M NA 8. ORD-LAX AA A NA 9. LAX-MEL QF A 10. MEL-CNS QF A A (stop) 11. CNS-AYQ QF D A 12. AYQ-PER QF D A (stop) 13. PER-MEL QF D A (stop) 14. MEL-HKG CX A (stop) 15. HKG-LHR CX A 16. LHR-CPH BA D E (stop) 17. CPH-LHR BA D E 18. LHR-CAI BA A E (end) Europe = 4/4 NA = 6/6 Australasia = 4/4 So I am a little annoyed that I am two flights short of 20. Problem is GF is not overly happy on adding extra flights in NA (could buy TVC M class flights and add two more sectors). And has the bizarre preference against significant backtracking http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif I think the best option would be to add two flights in Asia but I cannot find any interesting options that would not add significantly to the trip length and have F service from Australia/NZ. Was amazed that QF no longer have F to NRT! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif I know I could fly back on BA or QF and earn more miles, but I would love to try out CX F. Oh and the stops are due to family and other reasons so cannot ask them to move so I can earn more miles! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Any help appreciated, Mark |
Well, if you want to go to Japan, CX offers F/A between HKG and NRT or KIX.
While it's only business (D), you could also do CX HKG-DPS, which should definitely impress the GF. You're paying for Asia anyway so you might as well see it. |
To be more specific, time is extremely tight at the end of the trip with needing to get back to work (CPH).
So that what we were looking for was an easy one day (can even be 8 hours) stop-over. Obviously HKG is an option, and could do the late night MEL-SIN-HKG but was trying to see if there were cleverer options. MEL-NRT-HKG would have been good until I realised there is no F service from Australia to Japan. Mark |
Have a look at the schedules and see how they fit around these city pairs.
MEL-SIN QF/BA SIN-BKK AY/QF codeshare SIN-DPS QF and then you could connect from either of the Asian ports above to HKG. So if the schedule fits, I am suggesting something like MEL-SIN SIN-BKK BKK-HKG or MEL-SIN SIN-DPS DPS-HKG |
A TPE stopover might be interesting (great food). Try (NRT or NGO or KIX)-TPE-HKG on CX???? The JR rail pass to get around might break the bank though!

The option you mentioned of QF9 MEL-SIN connecting to CX2074 SIN-HKG is a good one (even if a bit boring as you say).
On the way back to London obviously something along the lines of CX709 HKG-BKK connecting to QF1 BKK-LHR would be a good extra segment to put (though might be too short a transit - you can always catch CX703 to connect to the earlier BA flight as well). That way you're looking at just an hour or two in the airport while you switch planes, and not *too* much backtracking from Singapore to HK, and heading in the right direction from HK to BKK. Both flights have first class and are a bit over 1,000 miles so you get better SC's with Qantas than a shorter leg going to Taipei or SIN-BKK. If it is only for a few hours I guess the time of year doesn't matter much...
One other possibility would be to go Aus-HK via a couple of days in Bali (assuming the QF flights have restarted). |
All good ideas especially about going MEL-SIN-HKG-BKK-LHR, as I could pick up an AY flight HKG/BKK.
Except that it does away with my desire to catch a CX F segment, and to try out the Wing and Pier. Oh well simple things for one FF. Maybe it is just worth the extra day's holiday and to just do a SIN-BKK-HKG run and have the day in HKG and catch the F flight out. Mark |
