price drop on ow rtw tickets?

someone on the message board on the lonely planet website mentioned that one world has dropped the price of their rtw tickets today - does anyone know anything about that & what are the new prices?

virtualtroy Jul 29, 2003 1:32 pm

Unlikely, but we watch and wait in hope...

daniellam Jul 29, 2003 6:35 pm

Even if prices drop, they will more likely be the Economy class RTW tickets.

I doubt the prices of First or Business class RTW tickets would drop :-(
[but then you never know]

With the US dollar depreciating worldwide I doubt if we will find many deals in dollar terms. NOte that most of the deals are based on currency arbitrage and not true price drops.

I understand that AONEX and DONEX fares are fairly low margin for most OW airlines but build a common brand loyalty and provide a foundation. You may see discounts through TAs and corporate deals but I doubt any significant price drop on list prices.

Just checking through the prices here in Australia and there has indeed been a drop of price, effective from 28th of July. Then again, given the pacific peso has appreciated about 30% vs the greenback in the last year I would have been disappointed if they didn't cut the price. Though it only seems to cut down the rates back to the pre-April price rise, nothing too dramatic.

Can you post a link to the new OZ prices, or the prices themselves please.

Thanks

Are the Egypt prices staying the same? If they went down, it would be great http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif.

Here are the fares, in A$, from the rules at travel.com.au.

Basis 3/4/5/6 continent

MLONE* NA/2939/3309/3839
MHONE* NA/3239/339/4279
DONE* NA/9169/10109/11189
AONE* NA/13629/14249/15229

It looks like they were effective 28 July and are a bit lower than those implemented last April but still a quite a bit higher than the pre-April fares. Also, there is some discrepancy between the fare that travel.com.au shows in their table and those that are in the rules they published. The fares above are from the rules.

Do you have prices of MHONEWC3/MLONEWC3/DONEWC3/AONEWC3 ?
Probably, *ONWWC4 are same prices as *ONE4

Before 20 segments limit era, some people enjoyed mileage RUN with MLONEWC3 starting from Australia.

Sincerely

You cannot do a 3 continent run from Oz. The minimum OWE trip is 4 continents: SWP-Asia-Europe-NA (or SA). That is why there are no 3 continent fares shown.

Check http://www.travel.com.au for other fares.

I mentioned about One World Circle Trip Explorer Fare, not One World Explorer.
This fare can be used as SWP->ASIA-AFRICA-SWP route.

For JP originating fare and terms and condition in English, you can get from
http://www.british-airways.co.jp/fli..._circle_e.html

Technically you can, but the trip you propose doesn't have a price so it can't be sold. If you were to start from a country that has a three continent price structure (such as South Africa and Hong Kong per your example) then you could do something along those lines. It's the Circle Indian, not a Oneworld Explorer.

I have found NZ originating fare.

visit http://www.worldaviation.co.nz/
and follow links to FARE->Star Alliance and one World Fares.
You can get PDF file for OneWorld Circle Trip Explorer.
NZ originating fares are:

AONEWC3/4 12149/13899 NZD
DONEWC3/4 8609/9849 NZD
MHONEWC3/4 3739/4089 NZD
MLONE"C3/4 3069/3629 NZD

This brouche clearly permites several routes including following routes.
SWP-AFRICA-ASIA-SWP
SWP-ASIA-AFRICA-SWP

Furthermore, in Japan, you can get 3 continents Oneworld circle trip explorer of SWP-ASIA-AFRICA-SWP(v.v) routes as following fares.

AONEWC3 760000 JPY
DONEWC3 528000 JPY
MONEWC3 298000 JPY

Again, I am talking about One World Circle Trip Explorer, not One World Explorer.
This is a global product of Oneworld.
