My daughter is travelling on a oneworld explorer ticket in october and november and has the choice of using her QFF or AA frequent flier numbers .
Her flight lengths are CX,BA and LA about one third each.
After seeing the latest Qantas changes,I am wondering if the better option is to use the America Advantage number .
We are Australian residents if that makes a difference .
Which number would get her the most points for future use,do you think ?

I would strongly recommend Cathay Pacific's Asia Miles programme. Why? If you compare Qantas' redemption chart and Asia Miles' redemption chart, it is clear that Asia Miles is much more generous in their offerings.

For example, you can upgrade using Asia Miles points on British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Swiss Air Lines and Japan Airlines where as with Qantas, you are only limited to QF flights and now they are about to nearly double their upgrade miles by up to 80 percent.

To redeem a Business Class from Sydney to Hong Kong using Asia Miles, you only need 60,000 miles or 45,000 miles to upgrade from Economy to Business Class. Comparing this with other programs, CX's program is far better value.

Just keep in mind for the AsiaMiles program that any Qantas economy flights apart from full Y class only earn 50% miles and no 1,000 point minimum guarantee, which might be a consideration for the future depending on how much domestic flying she'll be doing. For redeeming Economy flights it's much the same as other programs, but as already mentioned, it is a good program for business class redemptions compared to the Qantas program.
