Confused w/rules re-continent of origin

I have read and re-read the OWE rules and am still confused with respect to the rules concerning the continent of origin:- 4 flight sectors/segments and 2 stopovers allowed.

I will be purchasing a OWE ex-Australia and then going to SCL. If I depart via SYD, do the above rules allow me to (as an example) do BNE-MEL-HOB stopover, HOB-MEL stopover, then MEL-SYD-SCL?

And if so, do I have any time constraints while in Australia? IOW is ther a limit on the amount of days between my first domestic flight, BNE-MEL-HOB, and when I depart the comtinent?

As I said before I have read the OWE rules, but examples facilitate my understanding.

Thank you for your patience and for any help.

BNE-MELx-HOB-MEL-SYDx-SCL

That works. No time constraint other than 1 year for the whole trip. Only trick is having to then take a flight home to BNE at the end of the trip that arrives right at BNE, having no remaining sectors left for Australia. I guess Cathay from Hong Kong or Qantas from Singapore.

Thank you benoit.

My above question asked if the flights and stopovers within Aust (country of origin) were within the OWE rules, prior to making the intercontinental flight.

Can the Aust flights/stopover be done at the end of the OWE ticket instead of at the beginning? (For example, SYD-SCL-continents-SIN-SYDx-MEL-HOB-MELx-BNE)?

Thank you.

As your trip stands - No. As soon as you arrive back in SYD the trip ends.

You could do SIN-BNE/MEL/PER but not SIN-SYD.

Thanks Gaza.

I forgot the point of origin rule when using that example.

Keeping in mind the rule about not being allowed to pass through your point of origin, it's perfectly fine to do your origin-continent sectors after the rtw. If your final segment leaves you somewhere other than where you started, that's okay too. The "end" doesn't count as a stopover or anything like that. And remember that <24 hours doesn't count as a stop. With only 4 segments allowed there's not a whole lot you can do, unfortunately.
