Thanks christep - as i'm based in Eur (and heading East) it looks like I'll have to leave USA 10 days after leaving Eur. Makes planning the trips easier. I was going to keep some Eur segments back to do after the RTW part but that's not going to work now http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

You will have to buy two additional segments for this. If you are travelling in Y it may be worth comparing the cost of the two additional segments with a "Visit Europe" pass.

Assuming MNL-HKG-BKK is not a single flight number then again you will have to purchase an additional segment.

If one of the aims of your trip is to maximise mileage, and your schedule allows, I would suggest you route PER-SYD-ASP-MEL. Your routing would give 2924 base miles while my suggestion gets you 4451.

If you are looking for adventure then you could also fly in to ASP and drive to AYQ (Ayers Rock) and fly from there to MEL. It is a great drive and takes you through Kings Canyon. I did this in 2000.

There is no "CCH" airport code. Do you mean CHC (Christchurch)?

Your profile suggests that you are based in Canada. From what I am led to believe, OWE are cheaper ex-Canada than ex-US. Is there any reason why you have to start in BOS?

the 10 day rule counts intercontinental flights, according to AA RTW. so adding a jfk-bos tail cannot help.

if would be risky to try boarding the flight on a different date also, as you would be asked to rebook through the RTW desk.

CX is always more relaxed on this rule, try CX and try the tail concept.
(in fact, for ex-hkg OWE CX waive such restrictions)

So do you think CX would allow a pre-10 day departure HKG-JFK?

If you like overland, consider CEB Cebu, south of Manila as start/end of Philipines. Guess it is a nice tour.

If you find a reasonable ticket to PPT let me know. I am planning the same if I find one. Including Cooks on the way would be great. You can fly to Noumea (NOU) from Australia with the OWE.

I guess you mean CUZ Cuzco, Peru, not CUS. Which Oneworld flight goes there? I could not find it, but would also need it. Thanks for a hint.

One way I found through the South Pacific is with the Air New Zealand - South Pacific Airpass:

AKL-NAN-RAR-PPT or AKL-RAR-PPT (min. 2 segments). Less than 600 US$.

See for example http://www.pacificislandtravel.com/a..._airpass1.html

Again, if you find something better, please let me know.
