OW Route Maps?

Have five NA A/D segments to use over the Christmas holidays. Trying to think outside the box, using them to someplace I would never visit otherwise.. Hence, the problem: Aside from playing with individual destinations, is there any way to get route maps or even destination listings for OW carriers? I am brand new to OW, having utilized CO's inflight mag routemaps to select destinations in the past, so please excuse my naivity..

A side question: If my segments are unavailable in A/D, do I have to have M class avail to use them for coach? Or can they be booked in Y or some other class, given they are AONE tickets?

Thanks for any advice you can offer me!

In another OW thread it was recommended to download the CX planner which has all OW flights in it from www.cathaypacific.com.

Is the plan to maximise miles as well as see new places ? have you already done the one transcontinental flight allowed ?

I have found that the AA version of the oneworld timetable is a bit more useful than the CX version in some instances, finding all destinations served from a location being one of them.

It is available for download at http://www.oneworldtimetable.com/oneworld.exe

I've never officially asked, but just as your first-class ticket comes out of D inventory when nothing better is available, I'd be pretty sure they'll do the same for coach. At first I expected that having a first-class rtw ticket book in my hand got me some privileges in situations like that, but quickly learned that's not so.

Worse, you may find it difficult to get any kind of discount-category bookings at all to popular destinations this late in the game. We have the same kind of paper, booked LAX-SXM (D) in June, called last week to inquire about a date change. Many giggles from the AA agent. Bermuda might be available, perhaps SJU, MIA, YQB or YUL if you want to visit a cold place. I think CX has no LTR's in NA so it's AA or open-jaw.

The only exception is booking AY over the atlantic, you can book in J. Otherwise, you are correct, you will book in M or D.

Thanks for all your replies! I will download the AA and CX timetables and check them out.. Already used the transcon segment, returning from S Pac. Thinking someplace warm, not necessarily max miles. Been checking dates and destinations and so far looks good for most, biggest problem will be island hoppers avail in M (if we go thru SJU, currently avail.) Found a great BGI itinerary, but finding a hotel has been somewhat difficult.. Who knows, may flip the whole idea and end up in Alaska! Will continue checking avail until I find something! Thanks again!

I seldom look at posters' locations so missed your NJ. Come visit us in Southern California. It's arguably the most pleasant place to be, climate-wise, and no matter how well-traveled you are you can't have done all the adventures (or non-adventures) we've got stored in odd corners out here. Trans-con isn't an issue, of course - you just can't do non-stops. (Also I guess there's a rule that you can't pass through your starting point, but presumably that was in Canada.)

Thanks for the invite John.. The whole family will be arriving at your home on Dec 23.. LOL Just kidding of course! Actually, I spent many years living in OC and some family is still there, so we visit often.. Have seriously been considering it for the holidays.. Fits much of our agenda (surfing, family fun, etc). Plenty of avail EWR/JFK-SNA.. Was trying to squeeze in EWR-SNA/LAX-SJU-EWR.. But methinks I forgot about the entry point restriction.. Came in thru LAX(QF), so this means I cannot pass thru this gateway again? Oh well, avail LAX-SJU was almost nonexistent anyway.. Will continue playing until I get something (maybe EWR-SNA/SAN-Cabo-JFK or similar??) Thanks again!
