LAX lounge question
 

I will be flying F class into LAX from AKL on Qantas. I am not sure but I think the QF lounge in LAX does not have showers. Do any of the other Oneworld lounges have showers for arriving passengers?

Showers are in the Admiral Club in T4 ... but you have to have an onward boarding pass for travel on AA to get past security and reach the lounge. Same problem with all the lounges (they are past security and you can't reach them unless flying that day on an airline in that terminal). Alternative is to get a day room at one of the LAX hotels, for example the Four Points LAX has a 24-hour rate (no set check-in/check-out time).

Hmmmm....I arrive into LAX on QF and leave for IAD on AA. Separate ticket and only C class on the AA portion. I wonder if they will still let me in for a shower if I show that I flew into LAX on QF....

Sure, no problem using the shower, and your QF F or J boarding pass is quite effective for AC access. I've done this before I had OWE status for access and the prior boarding pass is enough (also LAX is quite used to this procedure, unlike some other sites).

I would be happy for a bathroom in the QF lounge

FYI - the AC has very limited shower facilities and they do not always have someone handy to clean them quickly between PAX - get on the list ASAP when you get to the AC - Morning should be good, but you will have other PAX off your flights making AA connections and some mya be aware of this facility

i have called the AC in LAX before my arrival by calling AA reservations who connected me to the club. They added me to the list when I hit T4 . I passed through security and then got to AC where the shower was only 15 minutes away.

Can I use the AC facilities in T4 when arriving on a AA domestic flight and connecting to a QF flight? (I am QF Platinum travelling in J so I expect I should be able to get into the T4 AC lounge).

Might be good to grab a quick shower there before heading over to TBI terminal. I only have a two hour connection but the luggage will be checked through and boarding pass issued at DFW, so the only thing I will need to do is pass through security at TBI.

yes. You are able to use any of the OW lounges on the day of travel that are not contracted out, which the AC isn't.

Theoretically, you shouldn't have a problem but AC staff may tell you to go to the QF lounge instead since you don't have a domestic connection to an AA flight.

As far as lounges at LAX go then IMO, AC rules! OW international lounges are simply shocking and don't even have toilets inside! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

Relative to what is available at LAX, the AC is the best. Relative to most places, they all suck wind. I have heard the RCC is decent, I have been in the Presidents Club, which is nice, but otherwise, I have never seen a good lounge at LAX. But the CX/LA and BA/QF are both holes. One of my pet peeves, since iirc, it is the airport with the most Oneworld carriers besides New York.

The problem is less OW than the TB terminal - all of the lounges there are a joke. The RCC is rather nice and the UA First lounge is excellent, but small.

As much as I agree with you, money talks. If they were willing to pay for it, it would happen. I am not saying that it should be like the Terraces or the Wing, but it shouldn't be a motel 6 happy hour either. Its not going to happen, though, especially since QF should be moving to T4 at some point, which cuts the number of OW flights out of Bradley about in half.

It has already happened, a new F and C lounge has been built (at T4) but will be kept dark for a year. Original plan was to open it next month, now it is Jan 04 or something absurd like that. Lounge is built but not furnished (can't afford to furnish it). Huge and lavish (I forget the numbers, but something like 500 people capacity on C side and 150 on F). Rather a shame to have the floor space and keep it closed, I suppose there are good financial reasons (maybe AA doesn't have to pay rent until it opens, and LAX eats the cost until then).

I meant in the Bradley terminal. The T4 terminal expansion has been known for a while.
