Demoted to Biz Class

I purchased a first class OW RTW and BA put me on Biz from Nairobi to Seychelles even though their was first on the plane. I did not know there was first on the plane until I boarded. Any suggestions on how I should be compensated?

Did you have a confirmed reservation in First Class on the flight that you flew on? If you did, then you are due involuntary downgrade compensation, which is the difference between the full oneway first class fare and the full one way business class fare between Nairobi and Seychelles. If you were not confirmed in First, you might have a hard time proving that there was a seat available.

Maybe there was no first class availability when you booked? Thus business class availability and you were subseqeuntly booked in business class.

We´re currently in the middle of a First Class RTW and we´ve had a few segments where we were told that there is no First Class, so we were booked in Business Class. However when we get on the plane, there clearly is a separate section in the front of the plane that has larger seats etc, but the flight attendants tell us that it´s the same class of service. This happened on LanChile from Santiago to Easter Island and back. It´s true that the service was the same, but the seats weren´t. I wonder if this is what happened in your case. Nevertheless, if we´re paying for First Class, we should get the best seats available.

LA is known to hold back F/A seats for their own direct customers. Much of their equipment has only one row of First and they keep that for their highest revenue pax. The SCL-IPC run is one such instance. You can book F on LA's web site but try to book it on Travelocity or with the AA RTW desk. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

This was kinda the case for me on CX from
HKG to DPS and back. The flight is sold as
two class but run with three cabin plane.
This is the reason every time I check-in
even on RTW OW F ticket which I have a
confirmed business class seat I ask about
the plane cabin and a seat as forward as
possible. FYI

RTW*A-- does the strategy of asking about the cabin and requesting a forward seat allow you to get the better seating, or is it a hit&miss type situation?
