next-flight-out = not stopover?

I wanted to end a OWE (originated YUL) with a day at SXM and won't have a NA stopover left. I assume that LAX-JFK-SXM (arrive 12N) SXM-YUL (depart next day at 1330) will work even though it's > 24 hrs because 1330 is the first cnx shown?

Also, segments ALWAYS add up, even if it's a stop on a direct same-plane service, don't they? Thus AA1937 which shows two stops LAX-SXM equals three segments even if I grovel and promise not even to look out the window at the tarmac when we're on the ground?

As far as OWE rules are concerned, a stopover is anything over 24hours. Doesn't matter if you are there 20 min or 23 hours and 59 minutes.

A single flight number is a single segment. You can even look at the ground if you want. For that matter, if they let you, you can even go out and touch it... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Oh, I guess I'm zero for two. I was pretty sure a stop meant a segment, even if the same flight number continued, and equally sure "next flight out" was the minimum requirement to not have a stop count as a stopover. Oh, well, live and learn.
