First oneworld Explorer itinerary - is it legal?
Have never used a oneworld Explorer fare (5 continents) before. Can anyone let me know if the following routing would be legal:
Perth - Sydney (QF) (stopover = s/o) Sydney - Noumea (QF) (s/o) Noumea - Sydney (QF) Sydney - Honolulu (QF) (s/o) Honolulu - Los Angeles (AA) Los Angeles - San Diego (AA) (s/o) San Diego - Dallas / Fort Worth (AA) Dallas / Fort Worth - Chicago (AA) (s/o) Chicago - Boston (s/o) Boston - Dallas / Fort Worth (AA) Dallas / Fort Worth - Zurich (AA) (s/o) Zurich - London (BA) London - Amman (BA) (s/o) overland sector Dubai - Bahrain (CX) (s/o) Bahrain - London (BA) (s/o) London - Cape Town (BA) (s/o) overland sector Johannesburg - Hong Kong (CX) (s/o) Hong Kong - Delhi (CX) (s/o) overland sector - not sure if allowed in India?? Mumbai - Bangkok (CX) (s/o) Bangkok - Hong Kong (CX) Hong Kong - Perth (CX) Perth - Sydney (QF) Total of approx. 52000 miles (before any bonuses) Any help in critiquing this itinerary and the legality of it would be most appreciated. Thanks for your help!! |
I think the final PER-SYD is not legal. Only one transcon allowed in Australia (except in transit to JNB). Also I've always thought the RTW ends once you return to the city of origin (extra legs in the country of origin is allowed). You could do ADL-SYD-PER as the final part, I suppose. The rest of it looks fine, you meet the middle east restriction of only 2 legs to LHR.

I believe that Sydney-Noumea-Sydney breaks this rule: ONLY O N E INTERNATIONAL DEPARTURE AND ONE INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL FROM/TO THE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN IS PERMITTED

By the way, is it permissable to use an award using AA miles to get to Australia where one would start a oneworld RTW crediting the miles to AA. The RTW would have a stopover at the origin of the award ticket. Would this be viewed as a back-to-back?
