That would be a fantastic development, IMHO. I just flew SR from ZRH-JNB and found their F product to be exceptionally good. A better seat than CX, for my purposes anyway.

Sounds great, especially if it comes with no restrictions on earning miles across the Atlantic! However, when I clicked on the link I got a bloomberg.com page with a message that "The page you requested does not exist." Has this happened to anyone else?

The link now works-- although the news story does use words like "probably" and "likely"-- not "will."

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Having flown SR many times, thi sis a great development. It is a great product in First, although the entertainment possiblities are a bit less than other OW carriers.

This would be very good news as it would open up a second major transfer point into Europe. Iberia is to limited out of MAD and London is not always the best place to change planes.

The SR boss Pieter Bouw reportedly said at a business lunch that the airline will choose to join oneworld.

SR's boss (President and CEO) is still Mr. Corti. Former KLM boss Mr. Bouw heads (as President, CEO is André Dosé) Crossair.

Crossair will change it's name to 'SWISS' as per april-1-2002 (taking over also about 60% of former SR's routings and planes). (Crossair using SWISS as their brand name is still disputed with bankrupt Swissair, and so is the flight-code 'SR').

(can you tell I love Switzerland? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif )
This is such good news.

Don't know where they got it from, but this is what justplanes.com posted yesterday:

"Swiss: Will unveil the name of its international alliance partner on 26Mar02.
Insiders say the choice is likely with Air France's Skyteam or Lufthansa's Star Alliance."

Not that I think it makes much sense. Guess we'll see...

YVR Cockroach Mar 18, 2002 9:19 am

The word from Reuters now is that SR is only talking to OW and have declined further discussions with * A (as previously reported) and Skyteam.

That's what Forbes says too, here:

There was a piece on CNN Europe this morning about the official announcement from Swiss that they are now talking to oneworld only. Didn't catch the full thing, but looks like it's official. Happy Days!!
