Comp from UA to 1World?
 

I am an Australian based United PreEx member and am considering switching to 1world. I knoq QF won't comp, and I don't really want to enroll in one of AA's challenges so what other 1world programs will Comp me to the equivalent status? and which is the best - I fly SYD to US and Europe a couple of times a year and a reasonable amount of Domestic segments here in Australia.

You can try BA but they will only offer you silver. They can only comp you if you are a totally *new* member to them. if you were enrolled with them before (even if no activity) they will not comp you. No problem to reach their gold level if you have some C or F class flights out of Oz to Europe or USA.

That's not true. BA does comp silver even old accounts, but it requires some effort and luck from your side.

Anyway, I think QF program is better for you (seems like Qantas will be your preffered airline), if you can cope some time without status.

Just for your info, I was trying this beginning of this year with the BA team in Germany. Maybe in other countries it works better. Seems the supervisor in Germany was pretty unflexible.

AA has been known to comp, though they are supposed to suggest a Challenge first. The persistence with which they push them varies with the person you talk to.

If AA would be best for you, try calling again to reach other reps, but not bugging them to where they put a note in your file that the next person you talk to will see. Also, if you have a travel agent or corporate travel coordinator who has an AA sales rep, he or she can probably make it happen.

The most you'll get is Platinum, though you should get that. AA doesn't comp EXP on the basis of competitive status.

had seen a case of comp'ed to PLT, within 10 minutes of a web-feedback! (the best web efficiency benmark anywhere) based on 2 other oneworld emrald status.
i believe they could pull up the result within oneworld and do not need the proof.

however, i believe that is the best they could do, expect "challenge" in most other cases
