Difference between Explorer and RTW?

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I searched and either couldn't find much or didn't understand what there was to read. I'm a newbie to the whole rtw concept but am beginning to prepare for a rtw ticket next year.

So my first question in what I am sure will be a long process is what is the difference between a OWE Explore and RTW?

And, if there is a difference, are both types of ticket available throughout the world, or just in certain markets?

RTW, or Round-the-World is the generic term for special package fares which allow you circle the globe.

The oneworld Alliance actually offers two RTW products: the oneworld Explorer (commonly abbreviated OWE) and the Global Explorer (GlobEx). I have information on both on my Unofficial oneworld Info Desk. The OWE is continent (region) and sector based, while the GlobEx is mileage based.
