DXB - Transit for immediate return?
Is is possible to take BA 108 connecting to BA 109 in Dubai whith only 1.5 hrs connecting time? Obviously it's the same aircraft on the return. Would I be allowed to stay in the transit area (is there one?) and check back in for the return leg without ever going through customs?
(I also posted my question in Flyertalk Airports but nobody seems to be using the new forum.) |
New forum?
Yes, there will be little or no problem. The little problems are that you stand to get harassed by the transit people and that you are risking BA cancelling your reservation. Though I don't know how risky the second is. I had it happen to me, but it was after my second consecutive flight. In other words, you will go LHR-DXB-LHR, while I went LHR-DXB-LHR-DXB-LHR. On the last leg back to London, all things were screwed up and I almost had an involuntary downgrade. In retrospect, I wish I had been because there was the family of some UAE hotel big wig on board with a lot of kids, screaming, yelling, and throwing food. |
I see no problem at all in being in Transit.you have to be at the gate 30 mins before departure so that should be alright and I guess BA could even check you in for the return flight in LHR itself.Hope you don't mind-just out of curiosity-is this a mileage run?

I went through the passport control after LHR-DXB and went to check in for DXB-LHR earlier this year. I have a Japanese passport (which does not require a visa). It was no problem.

I've done it a few time - however, if you want to change Frequent Flyer miles do it at the gate not at the Transit checkin.
I've always been in First but I've seen some huge queues for Coach especially during Haj. BA in LOndon won't issue the return Boarding Pass - I've tried! |
Yeah, mileage run on an RTW. Thanks for the replies!

I was in DXB in early July 2001 on a RTW and
did the mileage run on BA in F. When speaking with the Purser it was not clear that the LHR to DXB plane was turning that evening for LHR. Is it possible the arriving plane is turning for LGW. Just a FYI. |
