i was upgraded twice and i didnt even ask.

i was taking flights with CX in asia. sin to hkg, hkg-bkk and then bkk-sin. in the first leg my secretary had given. the travel agent my BA FF number to the travel agent. when i noticed i had it changed to AA where i am platinum. in the next two segments, when i arrived to the counter i was upgraded to bus. and the plane did not seem full (at least bus. was not)

was i just plain lucky? or is there any arrangement between the airlines for top tier FF passengers. i never get these unrequestated upgrades on AA itself.

In my experience CX treats me better than AA does. They've given me several comp-upgrades just to be nice.

CX always seems to recognize my AA status more than AA does.

this lead me to believe that CX purpuosely try to lure AA customers. i have heard too many cases of CX comp upgrades (not op upg) AA members.

next time i fly cx, i will hide my cx status...

I was upgraded in Dec. from economy to buz. on the first flight as AA Executive Platinum. It was NRT-HKG and I just thought it was overbooked. (I did not check the back cabin.) For this flight, I even requested a special meal, Asian vegetarian, just because I think it's better than regular foods in economy.

I thought my meal request was simply ignored and it was OK for me. But to my surprise, a cabine attendant came to me and told me that they can meet my special meal request. Then I told them I'd rather want to have Japanese meal in buz, which I like a lot on CX. And she went back to the galley and came back and said they can accommodate that request, too!

Before touching down in HKG, I was also given a box of chocolate (the one they usually pass out chocolate from after the meal in buz.) and said, 'Merry Christmas.' As it seems I was the only one given this, I really wondered why they treated me that good. It was a nice experience, though. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
