Bonus from LanChile
 

I just got my LanPass card today and there was also a bonus involved. If I fly 15.000km on LanChile,Ladeco or LanPeru or have 3 round trips on the same airlines within 12months from enrollment I will receive 5000km as bonus.

When I was looking at the different passes, it seemed pretty good. The only thing was that it seemed like you needed to fly a lot on LanChile to make it exceptionally worthwhile. Like on their C tix, you get like a 50% bonus, and F a 100%. Standard 25/50 on other carriers. The upgrades are all automatic, and I got a distinct feeling that not very many people are in the upper tiers on the airline. I could be wrong, though.

Please let us/me know more if there is any addidional info about why an American should join LanPass instead of AAdvantage. The three things that got me to go with AA were 1. Challenges (I am a peon right now) 2. all upgrades and whatnot seemed to expire, whereas (correct me if I am wrong) AA doesn't. Also the ability to trade domestic upgrades for miles. I fly usually intl and 3. AA will downgrade you one level at a time if you don't fly, which in the next 2 years, I won't. I will be in grad school. When I asked the lady on the phone, she seemed really confused, and said that I would just lose my status. Didn't speak English very well, but she was very nice and as helpful as she could be. Also, correct me if I am wrong, but an emerald status holder of an airline other than AA can get into AA's clubs, even with a domestic-US tix.(?)

I mostly sign up for LanPass for fun. I have sign up for around 10 different airline frequent flyer card but I only earn miles in a few of them. I have now plans of visit Chile in the near future so I dont think I will be on a LanChile flight anytime soon.
