Please check my Global Explorer routing in J.
Hi Flyertalk,
After much tinerking I think I have worked out a Global Explorer route, but I need some feedback please: JNB - GRU - GIG - SCL - IPC - PPT - AKL - MEL - SYD - DOH - LHR - TXL - LHR - JNB. I think that works and is within 34 000 miles, any thoughts? 747-444 |
I think you posted this in the wrong forum. Global Explorer is oneworld, not Star Alliance. There are no Star Alliance flights from SCL to PIC :)
|
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. It looks like a hybrid of both.

JNB - GRU - GIG - SCL - IPC - PPT - AKL - MEL - SYD - DOH - LHR - TXL - LHR - JNB. Getting D class on LANTAM from SCL is hard. Route JNB-GRU-GIG-SCL-IPC-PPT-AKL-MEL-SYD-DOH-LHR-TXL-LHR-JNB OW link https://www.oneworld.com/flights/rou...lobal-explorer |
Yes, sorry it is meant to be in OneWorld.
Under the Global Explorer rules it says Air Tahiti Nui with a QF flight number - there is a QF flight numbered Papeete - AKL. All other codeshare flights are not permitted with exception of Qantas (QF) code-share services operated by Air Tahiti Nui (TN). |

What airlines do you hope to fly on? Particularly PPT-AKL
Getting D class on LANTAM from SCL is hard. A quick check of ExpertFlyer shows good D availability on SCL-IPC(LA841,843) on August and January. However, IPC-PPT is only one flight a week. That may cause schedule problem. |
According to gcm your itinerary is just over 34,000 milesBut that can be easily fixed - for example just reverse the order of SYD and MEL
Other than that, your itinerary appears valid to me. Other thoughts:

[*]unless you want to go there, there is no requirement to return to JNB - anywhere in Africa will do (Africa as defined in the rules, in other words excluding North Africa); having the final segment to somewhere in West Africa would free up a lot of miles to use elsewhere
In the rule sheet Note: Milege for origin-destination surface will be included in the total mileage |

Hi All,
I have been having a discussion with Qantas for over a week about my fare and they keep coming back and saying you aren't allowed two stop overs in a single city. I keep asking them to show me the rule and they can't. This is my current routing with a stop in every city, do you foresee an issue? JNB - GRU - GIG - GRU - SCL (layover) - IPC - PPT - AKL (layover) - SYD - MEL - DOH - LHR - TXL - LHR - JNB |
I don't see anything about more than one stopover in the same city, only a limit on how many per continent, which you seem to be fine with.
Code:
FQN11*SO |
Thanks.
They keep saying I'm not allowed two but can't point me in the correct direction as to which rule says I can't. |
