FF program with a consolidator fare
I bought a consolidator fare with AA (fare code L), even though I know that I can not get miles or points. Is there a program in Oneworld that will allow the fare to be considered? The websites are ambigious to me. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
Also, there is never any mention of LanPass anywhere on these boards. Is it because people don't regard it as a good program, or is it that people are just not a part of it due to logistical reasons? Thanks. [This message has been edited by Darren (edited 11-28-2000).] |
AY Plus gives you 100% credit for AA flights in booking class L.

I could be mistaken but if memory doesn't fail me then you might get miles on CX with this fare as they introduced a large variety of lower fare classes for full mileage.

Thanks guys. It looks like it will either be on LanPass or Finnair Plus. I have heard too many bad things about the CX proggie. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif With LanPass, I get 100% bonus with each 1st class LanChile flight. With Finnair Plus, 300%. I will probably see which will cost me less to get into the respective emerald status, without losing my ability to get into EXP on AA. If I can't, then I will either dump the miles, or argue with AA to get them in. Since I am not so much into the latter, I will dump them. As I sit and type, I am thinking that Alaska might be an option as well, but I don't remember. Will have to look into it.
Thanks, and if anyone has a LanPass (or relevant info) let me know. Still find it odd, considering that the boards have places for Air Jamaica and South African Airways (which I have heard stellar things about). http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |

I don't know, because I saw someone else say that I could. But I called AAdv. and they said no. Maybe something new.(?)

Thanks, Silver.
I think I am going to just take my chances and try to get AA to post them. First, enough people have said that L counts for miles for me to think that the rep was wrong (that was the thread I had seen). Second, even if I don't get the miles, I will get more by not stripping miles from AA, and I don't want 12K miles in an account that I won't use and that will expire anyway. |
Darren,
aa.com has a fairly detailed description of eligible and ineligible fares. With respect to your situation: 1) L class is specifically mentioned as a mileage accruing fare class; and 2) "Certain airline tickets are not eligible for mileage credit. These include... unpublished fare tickets, including consolidation fares (tickets booked in O class or tickets booked in Q class with travel originating in Europe). If I were you, I would consider printing that page of the website and keeping it. Then, if the miles don't post, argue that L class is a qualifying fare and that it is not considered a consolidator fare by AA (they appear to only consider "O" to be a true consolidator fare). Just a thought. It seems like a reasonable argument, particularly if stated in a courteous manner. In my experience, with a grey area such as this a combination of facts, listening (on my part), politeness and determination nearly always yields a satsifactory outcome from the AA rep. |
I see how you are reading it now. I didn't read it the same way at first. I did print it, though, and I will use it if need be.
Thanks for your help. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
