I just returned from a round-the-world trip in first-class and have, within the past few months, had the opportunity to sample BA, Cathay Pacific and Qantas First Class sleeper service.

While the comfort level is super and about the same on all three, I found CX to have the best in-flight service and cuisine, QF probably the friendliest and BA, although very polite, quite willing to leave you on your own for the whole flight.

The wine selection was best on CX followed by BA and the entertainment systems on all three were ecellent but, again, I would give CX the edge.

I waited to reply until I tried BA again last week.
Went JNB-LHR. BA has a private room for F class checkin away from the normal counters.
Excellent. Lounge at JNB is a shared business /F with Qantas- adequate. Inflight -really cannot be faulted - in fact superb, probably the best I have ever experienced. I am MPO Diamond - 20 years member. Mr and Mrs Herd BA inflight cabin crew, thanks.
Better choice of duty free items and actually carry them on board.
London terminal 4- F/Concorde lounge opposite gate 10 - 1/2 under renovation. Needs it. Showers are currently down opposite Gate 1 in the Business Terraces. Tell them you are F and get immediate shower otherwise waitlist is 1 hour.
LHR-BKK - again faultless.
They told me Rod (Mr PR) Eddington has made a good 'down to earth' impact with them. Keep the troops happy and it shows.

Ah ha! Is that how the showers work!!

On my recent trip to France on BA in first I was hanging around the first class lounge in Terminal 4 when I decided to take a shower before my return flight to Chicago. I took the rather long walk down to the very crowded Terraces lounge and found the shower area telling them I had come down from the First lounge, just as a matter of fact, not knowing it would get me anywhere. The fellow asked me to sign in and although it appeared that I was signing below lots of un-crossed-out names, they immediately led me to a shower room. Dumb luck I thought. Now I know better.
