oneworld Explorer from Canada?
 

Can anyone enlighten me on oneworld Explorer RTW fares from Canada? Is it still possible even with no Canadian 1W airline? Do I have to make my own way (i.e. separate tkt) to a oneworld hub city (e.g. YVR) or would the Explorer include connecting space on AC?

OW Explorer ex-Canada means that you commence your travels ANYWHERE in Canada where there is OW service, does not have to be a "OW Hub". There is no connection included in the fare if you're departing from a Canadian city without ANY OW service. As well, you may not fly in or out of any city in the world that OW (or it's subsidiaries) does not service.

So if Edmonton is only serviced by AA (?), then your first and last segment will have to be on AA. If you like to depart from Kingston, Ontario, you'll have to make your way to Toronto, Ottawa, or Montreal yourself.

Actually, Edmonton has no 1w service at all anymore--AA served it only by codesharing on CP. You would have to get yourself to either Vancouver or Cowgary http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif to start the trip.

Darn. Yeah, I figured as much. Probably I'd make my way to YVR if I were to do this one. I hope AA adds more flights to western Canada now that its lost its partnership with CP.

Few Miles. If you are already spending $3.5K+ on such a ticket, you might as well take the Red Arrow from downtown Edmonton to YYC. For about C$100 return, you can get down to Calgary and the transfer you onto a shuttle for the airport from a hotel just south of the terminal. It takes about three hours and you'd be surprised at how many people do it to get cheaper flights out of YYC!
