OneWorld segment-counting rules
We signed up for our first OneWorld rtw and learned that our European itinerary counted as five segments:
(BKK)->LHR->CPH CPH-LHR-LIS LIS-MAD-ATH ATH-LHR LHR-(JFK) Stopovers are CPH, LIS, ATH and LHR (just before JFK). The other intermediate cities shown are normal 2-hour connections, approximately. I'd think that would be either six segments (if they count the intermediate cities) or four (if they don't). Sage words (better, suggestions on how to avoid the extra-segment charge) would be much appreciated. |
I see 6 intra-European sectors when the continents fare allows 4 within Europe. The fare also allows only 3 stopovers per continent. You might be able to wrangle a stop in LHR if you stay for less than 24 hrs but they might not be amenable.
Be aware, if you are planning to travel in economy class and plan to accumulate these mileages on AA, that M class does NOT qualify for earning miles within Europe on IB, EU or BA (BA if you are resident outside N. America and Australia). I'd put all my flights through HEL on AY! [This message has been edited by terenz (edited 06-06-2000).] [This message has been edited by terenz (edited 06-06-2000).] |
