getting retroactive credit with a second program

first, to make it clear...I'm not trying to get credits with 2 programs for 1 flight... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

my situation is...I took a roundtrip in discounted business (class I) with AY a few months ago, and have one flight credited to CX and the other credited to BA (EC US)...in the attempt for 2 x 100k...

the CX one came out ok...but with the BA one, I have been advised that class I on AY does not earn miles with BA (EC US), although it earns miles with the FFPs of CX, AA, AY (and maybe other as well)...

so my question is, now I haven't got credit with BA (EC US) for that AY segment, I assume it is ok for me to send in the boarding pass and ticket copy to CX to get credit for it ? my only concern is that they would argue I have already given my BA number for that flight (but, again, BA did not give me credit for that flight)...

Thanks !!

Does your boarding pass stub have your BA number printed out on it? If not, there should be no problem, as long as you are within the 6-month retroactive credit window. Just write a covering note asking for credit (and don't forget to enclose a copy of your ticket, and keep a copy of your boarding pass). And even if the boarding pass stub has you BA FF account number, you can explain they rejected the fare, but it is eligible on CX so you're just asking for credit, just as you've just done in your post

tedhl: I would check with BA again. Although BA is very stingy in giving miles and tierpoints for discounted economy tickets I do believe that they will award them for all business and first class fares. I'm a Global EC member and in my latest newsletter it shows that the following booking classes on Finnair will accrue tierpoints and miles: C,J,D,I,Y,B (tierpoints and miles) and H,K,M (miles only). Maybe another call to BA will solve you problem.

Tedhl,

In case you're not able to get BA to credit the flight and still want CX credit you need to talk to Finnair wherever you do business with them. Since your original flights were with them, they will be the ones to sort out any crediting issues.

I had a very similar problem to yours with my 4x100k bonus except that the inept AA folks took too much credit for all my AY flights even though I only sent them one AY ticket.

In any case the procedure was to call AA and have them erase the flights I didn't want credited (not a problem in your case). Then Finnair will check to see which flights have been credited and then send a letter to the program you want credit on.

In my case, I dealt with Finnair in New York where Mike Dunham was incredibly helpful to me. He researched it for me and sent out letters to the other three frequent flyer programs. As a result, BA and CX posted.

Tedhl - I would explain to BA that I class on Finnair is BUSINESS CLASS. Maybe they thought that it was discounted economy.

As far as I know, "I" class is used by both Finnair and Cathay Pacific for discounted Business Class fares when originating in Asia.
