New fare codes
A while ago there was discussion about pending changes to standardize paid fare codes on oneworld carriers. Today I received FF tickets from Cdn+ which had codes unlike those used in previous tickets I've received. (In fact, the itinerary spelled out my BA flights as being in Coach rather than First, which made me panic and call immediately! Flight codes did represent F-class seating, but computer had not been properly re-programmed to translate the new fare codes introduced last month, according to agent.)
So, does anyone have this info? Seems "U" is Business Class and "Z" is First Class for FF tickets. Thanks |
I've had J class in CP booked in I (1996) and more recently in U (1998 and 1999). Never booked 1st as a freebie so i can't tell you.

The problem is that each airline has their own set of codes for award tickets and that the respective airline computer reservation system simply cannot differentiate each airline and their code.
But under oneWorld...yes there seems to be some sort of uniformaty - U is for Business and Z is for First Class on Cathay Pacific flights too. But " I " under Cathay is for 'discounted' Business Class seats. You'd just have to rely on each tickets' remakrs at the bottom of your itinerary! |
