How to earn 100% QF miles on AAdvantage?

Hi People,

I'm not very handy with OW fares, but I'm considering using them in a RTW trip. I'm an AAdvantage member and plan to pile miles in this account. I'll have to fly a couple of legs with QF and I know that they only give 70% of the miles in economy discounted. What about if I'm flying in a RTW OW4Continent fare ? Is it still only 70% of the mileage ?

Thanks for the help

Yes, because economy oneworld explorer fares are booked in class M - treated as discount by QF and watch out if you plan to use CX as M class is not eligible for AAdvantage mileage on CX flights.

THANK YOU MGM ! That was a BIG hint !

What about the others ?

DO I get 100% AADVANTAGE with BA, CA , IB ,.. etc when flying an ONW4 fare ?

Thanks much for the help !

You should be fine with BA and CP. For AY and IB check with the AAdvantage desk there has been some debate about which economy fare codes are eligible and last time I checked AA had not posted them under the entries for AY and IB on aa.com

OK ,..

just went to aa.com and under CX they don't specify What are the elegible fares !

Probably will have to call them to be sure about IB ... etc

Thanks MGM

I went to the AA office in London a few weeks back and was told that M fares on IB count for mileage on AAdvantage (and for BA Exec. Club Canada) too. Either V or M on AY counts apparently.

On CX flights, one can ONLY get mileage on AAdvantage if you are booked in Y, B or H class. So that means that you WON'T be getting any mileage on the OneWorld fare in economy class.

On QF flights, you will get full 100% mileage on ALL flights , even within domestic Australian flights.

The 50% rule only applies to CP operated flights for flights within Canada that do not carry Y or B designated class codes.

Celestar -- what program are you talking about? Here is the current rule for QF for AAdvantage members:

Earn miles on all Qantas flights (including intra-Asia flights and flights between the South Pacific and Europe/Africa). Miles are also earned on codeshare flights operated by another carrier as long as the flight is sold under a QF flight number. You will earn a minimum of 500 miles when you fly on eligible fare tickets. Mileage accrual on Qantas discount Economy Class fares will be at 70% of the actual mileage flown. All miles earned on Qantas flights will count toward AAdvantage elite status and bonuses. To attain AAdvantage elite status, the member must fly on at least 4 segments on American Airlines, American Eagle and Midway Airlines within the qualifying year.
According to QF the only coach fare basis code that is not treated as discount economy is Y. Last time I checked oneworld Explorer fares were booked in M for economy class.

That's right ,...

I just called AA here in Australia and they say that one would get only 70% flying QF economy (except in a full fare). http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
