BA/oneworld 100,000 mile bonus-UPDATE
 

The U.S. Executive Club has confirmed the promotion is open to U.S. members. They must fly on three or more oneworld airlines flights (which are both marketed and operated by American, British, Canadian, Cathay, Finair, Iberia or Qantas) between October 1 and December 31,1999.

Be careful what fare basis you fly.

The information I've found (for BA's OneWorld partners I care about) is that British Airways Executive Club credits flights in following fare categories:
American Y, B, G, H, I, K, M, N, O, Q, R, V, A, W, X, Z
Iberia Y, M
Cathay W, B, Y, H, M, V, T, K in coach; J, C, D, I in business
Canadian B, G, H, K, M, N, O, P, Q, V, X, Y, Z

So it looks like you can't count on using deep discount fares on Iberia for the 100,000 mile bonus.

Are you saying the BA won't credit C/D from Canadian?

Yeah, that doesn't sound right. Business and 1st class are surely part of this, right?

I spoke with the Executive Club in Australia - now I realise that the US and UK and International programs have some differences - but they gave me a veritable alphabet of economy class fares on Iberia which were eligible for mileage accumulation (including W). What they did say was that many of the discounted codes were not eligible for tier-status points. Maybe the list you've given is eligible for tier-status???

I spoke with the AAdvantage desk with two different CSRs. They both told me that, as far as AAdvantage is concerned, you get credit for flying a oneWorld carrier on a published fare for the 100K bonus even if a segment doesn't normally qualify for AAdvantage miles.

So, I ran the following example for them: Flying AMS-MAN on a K fare on CX will not earn AAdvantage miles. However, you will get credit for flying CX.

This doesn't help Executive members much, but it sure helps AAdvantage members. It sounds too good to be true, so if anybody got the time, please re-confirm it with AAdvantage. Thanks.

Sorry about the confusion I started above - the only business class fares I looked into were on Cathay Pacific, where my BKK/HKG r.t. is only $70 more than coach. Business class on the other airlines was out of my budget, so I didn't look into which of them qualify.

Yikes. I just read Speedbird's post ("marketed and operated by"). I'm booked on a Canadian flight with a Canadian ticket operated by AA Eagle, and yesterday the Executive Club desk said that satisfied the Canadian portion of the bonus requirements. If anyone's heard differently, I'd love to know, and meanwhile I'll call ExecClub back and see if I get a different answer.
