Bag allowance Cathay Pacific

I booked a flight with Cathay Pacific in PE. This permits me 2 checked bags. My flight sectors with this booking are TUS-LAX-HKG-PER. The first leg is with AA. Will they honor the 2 checked bag allowance, and can they check them all the way to PER? Can they issue all my boarding passes so I can avoid security at LAX?

If it was sold as a through ticket TUS-PER , the allowance applicable at the start of the journey will apply for the whole trip. Also , bags should be checked through to the final destination and should be able to get Boarding passes issued. If no BP issued, you should be able to get this done airside and not need to clear security again

On your itinerary/ticket receipt , it will state exactly what the baggage allowance is - this is a requirement for travel to/from USA, so can get the definitive answer on what the allowance is by looking at that

Thank you. Being able to avoid check in and security in TBIT will be a good thing indeed. My Ticket is all the way from TUS to PER.

OTOH it is always worth checking to see if the first/biz ticket (TUS-LAX) on AA is less than than the add-on that Cathay would charge when comparing PE tickets starting in LAX versus TUS. Things may have recently changed. Whether it is my complaint to CX last year about why the AA add-ons for E and R class CX fares would be speculation. Cash fares from interior origination cities can now be less than from the gateway.

My issue this year is/was the lack of award seats on the connecting AA flights.

Happy wandering

Fred
