You're right, the price for these tickets is quite attractive. It's not valid for RTW itineraries, it only lets you travel across the Atlantic. It's typically used for itineraries like: UK-South America- (Central America + Caribbean) -North America-UK (or vice versa), and you have 3 different mileage allowances 17-21-25K, available in economy, business and first (don(t think they have premium eco). You have the same flight allowance as a RTW (16 coupons incl, surface sectors) but the stopover limitations are more restrictive (min of 1 stopover and max of 3 per visited continent + 1 stopover in the continent of origin). If you need more sectors or more stopovers you can add a One World LATAM pass to you it at an extra cost.

I was just looking at one of these for an upcoming trip, definitely not cheap ex-US ($8200), and a bit cheaper out of Canada ($6750) which being in SEA, YVR is a good option. But a real deal can be had ex-ALG $4300 for the 17k variant and $4800 for the 21k variant. Ex-TUN is about $500 less still although I think I would pay the extra for the easy ALG-MAD and ALG-LGW options on IB and BA.
