one RTW ticket with multiple FFP numbers

Hello everyone

I am taking a RTW in July which will earn some 355 in CX Club Points, I only need 245 to renew my MPC gold status which resets 30 September. I have purchased the ticket with my MPC number already specified.

Between leg 6 and 7 of my 11 leg trip I will earn 255 Club Points. I would like to earn the balance of the trip in BA Avios. My plan is to move away from MPC anyway^ and start crediting everything to BA and it seems a shame to waste 16% of my way to 600 BA Tier Points. I would not earn the required 600 points by 30 September for MPC Diamond, and would not want it anyway:cool:.

Has anyone here done anything like this, and if yes any advice?

If this has been answered elsewhere, could someone please provide the link.

I just saw on the link below discussion regarding MPC "early reset" of the year, so that my Club Miles are not wasted and I start as gold with 110 Club Miles rather than zero. Is anyone familiar with this?

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...l-upgrade.html

Thanks in advance.

FFP don't earn based on trips. Each flight can have its own FFP attached (though connections could make this hard).

There is no reason a 10 leg xONEx couldn't have each leg direct points to a different program.
Just go into the booking after you've flown the 6th leg and change the program over.

IIRC there is one field for FF number in each PNR. So wouldn't you have to change the FF number before each flight if you want it to be different from the last one?

While TAs (and airlines) would rather enter the one FF# for the PNR, it is possible to get a FF# entered for each flight segment.

However, it would be simpler in this case to fly the segments required to earn the MPC points and then have the FF# changed by calling into the customer service area for the airline with the next flight. Check-in agents should also be able to make the change.

Happy wandering

Fred

No.
Not a XONEX case,
but, I ticketed HND-(NH)-xBKK-(PG)-REP-(PG)-xBKK-(NH)-HND via NH's online booking (One PNR, and One ticket).
PG can't earn NH miles at all. So I had to add FFP No for those segments.
I called NH reservation office. Only an experienced agent was able to add JL FFP No for BKK-REP-BKK segments.

Who booked your flight for you?

Depending on the GDS used, each segment may the particular FFP so its not just based on airline. But it will also depend if the airline in question sees each segment having its own number, instead of one number for every segment of its flights.

eg
CX 111 16DEC SIN-HKG can have FFP AA12345
CX 222 17DEC HKG-TPE can have FFP BA12333

HOWEVER... in my experience, AMADEUS which CX and BA uses has its quirks and it may not send the right information to the correct airline. So in this case, you would have to check each time you fly that that flight has your particular FFP on it.

CX agents seem to know what they're doing. BA doesn't. There has been many times when I asked BA to remove my BA number and use AA instead. Even after the boarding pass comes out with my AA number, the miles somehow end up on my BA account.

You sure about that? An xONEx ticket is just a different faring mechanism. The flights part of the PNR is still the same. By what you say, the FF number would have to be on the flight line of each flight to be attached to that flight, wouldn't it?

Does anyone have a screenshot of a PNR display they can post?

From some correspondence I had early in the year. Alas only partly documented. In the end part of the issue was that the ticketed name and the two FF programs had different initials on file. As well I found a partner FF special to earn the 5K miles I wanted on the second program.

This probably happens because when you add a QFF number on the QF site, it adds it without a segment association which means it applies to all flights on that PNR. When they add your other FF number, the system most likely adds it as a segment associated entry (associated to that specific flight). Therefore that's why you'll see both.

For you to picture what happens, this is likely what it looks like in a PNR, after the lounge has changed the FF number:
SSR FQTV QF HK/ QFxxxxxxx
SSR FQTV QF HK/ AAxxxxxxx/S3
Where the first SSR is the 'all flights' FF number and the second SSR is the specific flight associated one. S3 being the flight it applies to.

You could probably get around this issue by having your QFF number specifically assigned to each and every flight so that there's no "all flights" FF number SSR in the PNR. The QF site won't let you do this however. You'd need to call up.

Example:
SSR FQTV QF HK/ QFxxxxxxx/S2
SSR FQTV QF HK/ QFxxxxxxx/S3 (changing this to AA when appropriate) SSR FQTV QF HK/ QFxxxxxxx/S4 SSR FQTV QF HK/ QFxxxxxxx/S5

Hope that helps with the wandering

Another glitch case

When I changed my main FFP from CX to JL, I had to change FFP no in the existing reservation.

I called CX, and asked change of FFP no. An agent said 'done'.
However, still I saw my reservation under my MPC account.
In this situation, checkmytrip.com showed both of CX and JL FFP numbers.
Yes, as an agent said, JL FFP no was added to my resrevation.

I called CX again, and explained the situation.
She 'PROBABLY' removed all FFP no, and add JL FFP no.
Good. Then, I didn't see my reservation in my MPC account.

So, you have to make sure, old FFP no. has been completely detached from the reservation.

For my money, the only way to be really sure is to check the boarding pass when you're waiting for the applicable flight. Then have the gate agent change it if necessary.

Its possible with SABRE GDS' bookings. eg segment select. AMADEUS is possible but in my experience, AMADEUS 'remembers' the original FFP that was originally there.
