Does Sri Lankan allow one to add BAEC membership number to reservation?

Hi All,

Sorry for posting such a stupid question and not really being too sure where to put it. Essentially I am asking whether SriLAnkan allows you to add BAEC FF membership details after I've made a booking and purchased tickets. I can see it asks for this before..

I am about to book a flight on SriLankan and haven't got my frequent flyer membership sorted with BA yet. I have flights booked with partner airlines - which allow you to add this information after (i.e. QR), but want to max out the membership year so not join before I take my flights.

Because SriLankan is a smaller airline and with less detailed webpages, I wondered whether they also allow you to update FF information at a later date easily. I am concerned that if it doesn't allow me to update this, it could be a faff later on calling call centres to claim miles/tier points. Sorry for such a stupid question, but I'm sure others who have booked with them will know whether this information can be updated before flying.

Unless I'm missing something, it takes less than 1 minute to create a ba account. Why not do so before buying your ticket?

Hi, thanks for responding. The main reason is if i join I want to give myself the best possibility of gaining status, so I want to give myself the biggest amount of time (the whole year) to achieve this. I have a large batch of flights towards the middle of next year, but do not have anything planned before this and financially would prefer not to shell out before. By not joining until next year, then I will have from the few weeks from the flights and then for a whole year. If I join now, then I only give myself 6 months before the end of the year to gain status.

Beginner's Question - UL

Putting aside whether UL's year starts from when you join or based on a calendar year, you can always call BA and ask them to add the number at anytime before the flight or at the airport.

You can sign up for the BAEC whenever you want. It costs nothing. You can add a BAEC number to a OW booking at anytime before a flight and up to six months after you have taken the flight.

It does not matter when you join BAEC. It does not matter when you add a BAEC number to a flight booking. What matters is whether you will fly BAEC-associated flights sufficient to achieve status within a qualifying period.

I think the OP wants to delay joining BAEC as late as possible in order not to take up time in the membership year with no flights. In other words, joining later (and adding number to UL booking later) will get him a membership year that starts and ends later than he would have if he joined today. This would allow him to capture more flights during his year. (BA does not have a Jan-Dec year, but several).

Can a UL reservation be pulled up on FinnAir's "manage your booking" page as a BA reservation can? If so, that would be a relatively painless way to add a BAEC number close to departure date.

Never had a problem adding my ff number to UL bookings - straightforward enough on their website's 'Manage Booking' section.
