Would you fly an angle flat seat if it meant...

I'm about to book a paid business class tickets.

I have two options on the return.

1. Fly Qantas 330 200 on an angle flat then fly the Qatar a380 from Bangkok to Doha.

This is about a 9 hour flight on angle lie flat.

2. Fly Cathay through HKG on a lie flat. Then onto Doha.

Allows you to visit first class lounge always nice.

This is a paid ticket so I'm trying not to make a mistake. Is the a380 on Qatar worth dealing with 9 hours on Qantas partial lie flat?

Day or night flight?

Option 1..leave SYD at 9 am and arrive to BKK at 435. Leave BKK at 835 pm and Arrive DOH at 1130 pm the same day. The first flight is 9 hours second flight is 8 hours.

Option 2...leave SYD at 730 and arrive to HKG at 330 pm. Leave HKG at 630 and arrive DOH at ten pm the same day. Both flights roughly the same time.

HKG. Better lounges, better seat.

What are the $ for the options?

I'd vote HKG also.

The price is the same. It either comes down to a Cathay a330 or Qatar a380. I will be flying in an a350 Qatar on the easy to Sydney at least.

I would take flat bed anytime.

HKG and CX for sure. More seamless transfer, better overall product across the two flights. QR A380 J is not anything incredibly better (if even better at all) than CX J which is very good. Unless you really want to fly the A380 with QR, go with CX.

On the QR 380 you would get access to the in flight lounge, with Krug. But 9 hours angled flat would be sufficient to make me desist.

Option 2 is the better deal all round

Lie flat all the way.

Are you sure the Qantas flight is an angle flat? They are in the process of refurbishing the A330s with fully flat beds. It's still a lottery at the moment though.

As of right now, yes, the flight is angle seat. This isn't till next may so anything can happen though..
It is a paid ticket, not reward, which is why I'm having a major first world problem.. Especially considering both options cost the same.

Would it really matter for a day flight whether it is angle or lie flat unless you are intending to take a pill to try to force your body into a time zone change, which for your destination IMO I would not do?
For me it is less about the seat and more about schedule and the service. So I would take the CX option and I am used to getting to the airport in the early morning.
