Oneworld madness

I was entertained when trying to look up a possible trip on the ITA Matrix, to get the following screenshot:

Severe airline identity crises! With the exception of the US Airways flight, none of those flights even passes through the home country of the marketing airline!

I'm not sure if it's Oneworld madness, or ITA madness...!

If you were able to book it this way, I'd be nervous about both OLCI and seat selection for many of the flights. I'd especially be nervous about the AMS - PHL flight with the BA flight number ---- each time I've had one of these (BA flight number on a TATL codeshare), both online and and Kiosk check-in were not possible. YMMV

codeshares are everywhere

Don't AA, IB, BA and AY have codeshare on almost all of the others trans atlantic flights?

Yes ---- but be careful, as they (codeshare partners) don't necessarily share computer systems, and therefore check-in and checked luggage can definitely be problems.

For those on their first Oneworld itineraries, it's worth reiterating that Oneworld is a marketing campaign, with sometimes precious few operational connectivities between its "partner" airlines. Forewarned is forearmed.
