TBIT OneWorld lounge... sleeping area?
I'll have about 9 hours between flights at LAX in May after arriving from HNL on an AA redeye and departing for LHR on BA.
I'll have access to the OneWorld lounge at TBIT, and was wondering if there is suitable seating/or indeed a dedicated area for sleeping? Just trying to weigh up whether I just get a hotel dayroom instead. |
I was at TBIT in December and it was pretty quite midmorning. Reports are that it fills up as the day goes on. I have slept in worse places.

I'd vote day room. Safer and 100% more comfortable. For 9 hours that's a good amount of time where it might be nice to not be stuck in an airport.

TBIT OneWorld lounge... sleeping area?
The J lounge has no dedicated sleeping area. (edit: IIRC there are some recliner/lounge style seats though - poolside style, not la-z-boy style- which might work for sleeping.) It is very packed at night but suggested above emptier in mornings I guess.
I don't like this lounge, dark and only a few windows into a hallway, but it has more food options than the Admirals Club. I usually connect AA to CX and do a few hours in the AC which I find more comfortable and I like the windows to the tarmac. Then I do the TBIT for just an hour or so before the flight. If you have access to the AC also, which is available airside in the AA terminal before you exit to transit to the TBIT, you might consider going there. Probably busier, but larger and a bit more comfy in my opinion. |
Thanks all.
I'll check out dayrooms too. |
If you don't have a boarding pass for the BA flight then you won't be able to pass security at TBIT until checked in. BA check in only opens a few hours before departure.

Decided not to bother with a dayroom, as I landed at 5am and none of the hotels could offer a dayroom until 9am or later because they were full the night before. Didn't really fancy waiting around in lobbies for a few hours. The OW lounge at TBIT was quiet enough (other than the loud lounge music), and having been up for the last 24 hours or so I had no problem catching up on some sleep in the lounge. |
