LHR-SYD which First class OW is the best?
I am flying from London to Sydney and I want to know the best first class cabin to do it in. QF? QR? BA? CX? MH? thoughts? It is a very long flight and I want to be wowed and comfortable

If you want end-to-end F then your only options are QF or BA
(CX and MH do not have F cabins on their flights to Oz; neither does QR but it doesn't fly to SYD only MEL and PER)

I would definitely be thinking twice over which is the best 1st class product. The benefit of Qantas is that it provides a 1st class product the whole way on a single aeroplane service , but not as good as CX for example.
Main issue of finding 1st class outside of BA/QF is the lack of carriers in OW providing 1st class service into Australia ( other than , I think, JL )
If wanting a great 1st class product the whole way, I would look at carriers out of OW ( e.g. SQ or EK )

F options even outside of OW are less and less. TG had a relatively good F product for a reasonable price in the past, but no more F between BKK and SYD.
SQ has a good product, but it is usually more expensive than most others. Personally I would avoid BA, their F is more like a glorified business class. UA via the US is also a possibility, but has two disadvantages: Connecting in the US and it is UA.

EK has a good product and , ime, a good value product
SQ may be more expensive, but if looking for quality , it may be worth paying a little extra
I would personally be inclined to take JL over QF or BA - the rest are a problem in OW in getting 1st class into Oz

For now. Given how often TG changes their mind about aircraft I wouldn't bet on it for any given future travel date.

Looks like JL only has F until Mar28, then it reverts back to C only.
Thai seems to constantly change aircraft on BKK-SYD. A few days ago it was a 777, now all flights are back to 747, but some flights without F, some days with F but F0A0 and some days with F seats available. Their seat map is also strange, only a small subset of the 747 seats are visible.

As noted by Unterwegs the schedule has flip-flopped recently, and in any event Thai is notorious for swapping aircraft at the last minute.

QF (or non stop EK) will work nicely. A relatively short sector to DXB to wine and dine, then a long sleep to SYD should see you comfortably into a SYD morning. The Asian stopover is good in theory, but the short second sector to SYD will leave you short on sleep - this makes the BA & SQ (and to a lesser extent TG and CX) a crappy option.
