Upgrade with MH

Hi everyone, looking to book a flight with MH in Y, how do I go about putting a upgrade to J in using QF points??

You can't.
You can only use QF points to upgrade on QF metal.

This post should also be in the Qantas Forum as it refers to the use of Qantas Points.

Note that generally you can only use points from one program to upgrade on that airline (some exceptions within oneworld include a AA/IB and BA cross-upgrade partnership)

Unfortunately this is one of several alliance wide benefits that Star and Skyteam offer but Oneworld does not.

From Oneworld's website:

"Question:

Can I use my frequent flyer points/miles to upgrade withinoneworld?

Answer:

Most of our member airlines allow customers of their frequent flyer programme to upgrade on their own flights. However, none presently offer upgrade awards on flights operated by other oneworld members."

Personally I think it's good right here becauae the question is actually about an alliance wide benefit that doesn't exist. Perhaps the OP could have said "How do I use points from one OW program to upgrade Y to C on another OW carrier. Example QF points to MH or AA points to RJ."

The answer is the same either way and is probably valuable information to a much wider audience than just those who will ever see the Qantas forum.

I wonder why it says that, because it isn't true. As another poster above mentioned, you can use AA miles to upgrade certain BA/IB tickets. It's not easy, but can be done….

Asia Miles (CX) can be used to upgrade AA and BA flights.

An existing Y B H fare class is required for economy to PEY seats.
BA PEY to Business seems to be a popular choice.

Happy wandering

You can only upgrade with a FF programs "upgrade instrument" (be they points, miles, vouchers etc) subject to the rules of that FF program.

If BAEC says you can upgrade an AA flight using Avios, it doesn't mean you can upgrade an AA using Qantas Points.
