Using US Airways or AA Lounge at LAX while flying Cathay?

Hi,

Long time viewer to this great site, first post - actually first question I've had that couldn't already find the answer to on this site!

Flying Cathay 881 LAX-HKG economy without any Cathay status. In past international travels I'd like to get to the airport early and I purchase a day lounge pass at a elite club (only used UAL and DL). Since I'm flying Cathay who is One World it appears in the Tom Bradley Terminal at LAX the clubs are specific to only first and business class passengers for the One World Club. Has anyone had success purchasing a one-day pass to the American Airlines/ US Airways (it appears they share a club) while flying Cathay out of LAX? I would assume it would be ok since they are in the same alliance but wanted to confirm. And, can that be bought at the terminal or in advance?

This will be the start of a honeymoon trip to Asia so it would great to start the trip off to a nice relaxing start before the long-haul and get through security early and wait in peace and quiet.

Any help or other suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Eric

Are you asking about purchasing an Admirals Club (AA) day pass and using that to access the Oneworld lounge? That wouldn't work.

You won't have access to the Admiral's Club as it is in Terminal 4 which is not connected airside to TBIT.

Admiral's Club passes/memberships do not get you access to the Oneworld Lounge.

It appears the KAL lounge in TBIT is accessible with PriorityPass membership. Probably wouldn't want to pay for PP membership just for one lounge visit, but if you'd use it enough it may be worthwhile.

Are you starting your travel at LAX or connecting through? If you are connecting via AA you can get into use the AC before you head over to the TBIT.

Another option is to get a Chase Ink card. That gets you membership in The Lounge Club, which gets you 2 free entries into various clubs, including the KAL lounge at the TBIT.

This sounds like the best bet. I use a Chase Ink card for a ton of business purchases. I just checked out information and it appears you need an "invitation code".

Any idea on how to get this, is this something I contact Chase through?

Thanks in advance!

Update to my last post: Using the code "chaseink" works. Then you will be prompted for entering your credit card details to verify you are a Chase Ink current customer.

I'll update once I receive the information in the mail and once I am able to use the vouchers at the KAL lounge at TBIT.

Thanks again.

I took a different reading of OP's question, hopefully this will help:

- You can buy a day-pass for AA's lounge at $50/person, but at that price you might as well buy a 30-day pass for $99, which includes one guest accompanying you.

- Your AA pass won't give you entry into the OW lounge at TBIT.

- You do not have to be flying AA or OW to use the AA lounge (in fact, you don't even have to be flying at all, under some circumstances).

- You can buy the pass at the lounge or online.

- You CAN access T4 with your CX boarding passes so you can use the AA lounge, but indeed there is no airside connection. It's a short walk from T4 to TBIT but security at TBIT is unpredictable and could take a while to clear.

If I were you, I would pursue the Chase Ink/KAL lounge option as the easiest, but worst case scenario, the AA lounge is an available option.

Also, have you been inside TBIT lately? Much improved terminal.

Since May 1st, one simply needs a BP for a same day departure from LAX to be able to go airside at any terminal.

So, for example, with a $99 membership, the CX BP would be enough to access T4 and it's A/C.
