Changing from one airline to another codeshare
 

HI All,

I am booked with AA LAX - SYD return codeshare with QAN. However i can now see that QAN has reduced the price of their premium economy seats to a point where is is only $600 more than what i originally paid for economy with AA.

AA dont offer Premium economy, so is there anyway i can change the ticket over to Qantas and pay the extra $600 to go up to Premium Economy?

No. If AA does not sell premium economy on the route, then all you can do is cancel your ticket (with whatever penalties apply) and purchase a new ticket with Qantas.

You might find this is considerably more expensive than $600 (or perhaps not?).

Thanks for the help. As i thought, it will cost more to cancel and rebook than just paying the extra $600.

Seems strange that AA wouldnt offer premium economy to Aus, especially as they dont have their own metal flying there

Your best bet is to maybe ask at the QF airport check in if you may then purchase the upgrade to Premium Economy.
