Advice on flight disruption
 

Hello,

I was due to fly PSA-LHR-JFK today on AA flight numbers booked thru AA.com (the PSA-LHR was on BA metal, LHR-JFK on AA).

BA cancelled my flight from PSA-LHR today without explanation. Other flights to/from the UK on other carriers are operating.

I called up AA today to rebook. They put me on a FLR-LHR-JFK flight tomorrow leaving in the early afternoon. Flight numbers are IB from FLR-LHR and then BA from LHR-JFK.

The IB flight is actually operated by Vueling, which I understand to be a low-cost carrier. AAdvantage reservations said they had to keep me on Oneworld carriers if we were going through FLR or BLQ.

A few questions:

1) What, if any, compensation am I entitled to due to the cancellation of my original flight?

2) What is my luggage allowance going to be on Vueling? I have a AA Gold status, and am continuing onward on the same reservation to the US, but at the same time I hear they charge for the first bag, and they are not a OW airline as far as I know.

3) If I have to pay for checking in my bag to Vueling, can I claim reimbursement from AA or BA since had BA not cancelled my original flight, I would have been entitled to 2 checked bags free of charge?

BA600 (LHR-PSA) was cancelled due to weather (fog at Heathrow), and hence BA601 was cancelled as there was no aircraft to operate it. Generally, compensation is not payable for delays due to weather.
