bags interline

I'm soon to be a OWE, but still keep getting bag interline F-ups. LHR T4 MH staff kept saying they can't thru tag. what am i supposed to do!? (ticket in question: #1 LHR-KUL-TPE (MH); #2 TPE-HKG (CX)) all within MCT and same day.

I actually think it is highly likely that they cannot do that.

I think the connections max out. I have no problem with LHR-MAD (BA) and then MAD-BOG (IB) on separate tix. But they cannot do LHR-MAD (IB) plus MAD-LIM-BOG (LA)

It's not for want of trying or lack of will, I really think there is something in the system that doesn't like 2+ connections accross 2 airlines.

Bag tags are designed to support up to 4 segments, and I believe OW airlines are supposed to through-check even if on separate TKTs.

Yep I am sure you are right, I have just never seen it happen on my OW interlines.

I'm not sure this a true oneworld policy although a number of OW airlines do have a policy where they will through check on separate tickets if they can.

not sth we can do sth about it? how about non OW tickets? i live in HKG/LHR (both are hubs) so i dont have many chances to have multi legs interline

I complained to a One World VP when IB refused to interline my bags. I asked him what the benefits of an airline alliance were if they wouldn't do this. He side stepped the issue and passed the buck to IB

Needless to say IB never responded.

The bag fiasco caused me to miss a long haul connection. Yes it's my risk to buy separate tix but it would not have happened had I not had to wait 40 mins for bags.

This year, I have been able to check CUZ-(LA)-LIM-(LA)-MAD-(BA)-LHR-(BA)-DXB (part of Oneworld Explorer).
