Frankfurt Lounges
Which lounge does everyone recommend using at Frankfurt? The OW site seems to suggest the AirFrance lounge is available for AirBerlin passengers. I'm flying in on BA and connecting to Qantas.

Can't tell from the moble app, what is your status? Which cabin are you flying in?
|
I'm BA Silver, flying in J

CX Lounge.

If you look at the qantas website, qantas contracts for the JAL sakura lounge: http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airl...unge/global/en I don't think the CX lounge will be open (it closes at 1400). |
CX lounge, IMO, is quite poor. No wifi, almost no food. JL Sakura is better.

JL has nice German sausages, otherwise I prefer the post-renovation CX lounge. |
Sitting in the JAL lounge right now, at 10 a.m. arrived from DFW on AA and am connecting on Finnair to HEL and then on to MUC. (:)) One of the two showers works, and the breakfast is OK with bread, cheese, coldcuts. This is not like transferring in LHR and visiting one of BA's Galleries, but it sure beats a States-based AC.
To connect to the Finnair flight I will have to leave early to clear security once again--the flight leaves here from Terminal D but clearance is still needed. |
In case a passenger departing FRA picks up this thread at a later date, note that the Sakura lounge (perhaps the others) is between passport control and security. In other words, if one goes through security to reach the BA gates, for example, one has passed by the lounge.

Level 1= Schengen Level 2 = Non-Schengen As most OW operators are non-schengen then most flights are from this area and hence the JAL and CX lounges are also here, so if you fly Schengen (AB or AY) then you don't have access to the JAL and CX lounges. |
FRA CX lounge is quite small especially since other OW members use it
No F section! BUT it is directly opposite the security check gate and they have a Premium line for Biz and F pax Nice belegtes brot open face sandwiches and good announcements Only 4 computer stations Inadequate lounge if you have paid for a CX F ticket and being Terminal 2 you get off the train and have to take the shuttle or skyrail from Terminal 1 |
For departing BA pax, what is the best lounge to use? I believe my choices are CX, JL and IB? Is it like LHR T3 where one can choose from many lounges?
Also, is it correct that OWEs flying on BA cannot access the JL first lounge? |
The choices are JL or CX only as security will not let you into the Schengen area for the IB lounge, at least that's my experience. OWE does let you into the First section of the JL Lounge even when flying BA but it's only open about 3 hours before the JL flight leaves (~21.00hrs.) - you wouldn't be missing much though, JL's C lounge is perfectly acceptable.

Many thanks. Arrived before CX lounge opened so went to JL. Perfectly decent. Shower was a little small but completely manageable. Moved over to CX later - also perfectly decent.
|
Flying in on a codeshare AY in the morning and going non-Schengen after that. How's the IB lounge? Should I just stick to JL lounge?
