Yes. Two AONEs ex-CPT booked through BA UK. Throughout the 16 segments over about nine months I constantly changed between BA/AA FF#s.

I'm not there yet; I'm still working on booking my first DONE4 with BA (it's out for pricing now). My first flight on the new ticket would be in January, but wanted to see how you changed the FF number? Calling BA? Calling AA? Online somehow? Or gate agents just before flights? I have no status on BA, so I'd want to ensure AA on all flights.

FYI, as many book and credit with AA. From the website FAQs:

Is there a maximum number of base award miles that can be earned on a ticket?

Yes, a maximum of 75,000 miles will be awarded per ticket (inclusive of any class of service and elite status bonus miles).
Which means we may be able to earn +100,000 EQM in one RTW but the earning of RDMs will stop at 75,000.

But I guess we can always switch the FF# midway as needed?

Once you're ticketed, phone AA to obtain the AA 6 character PNR# by giving them your first AA flight number and date.

Phone BA and tell them to take out your BA FF number on ALL flights and substitute your AA one.

Then check on the AA site that this has happened.

Agree on setting up the itinerary IME with both AA and now BA. So far, though, BA is not going well.

I called this morning re: the itinerary I setup on Wednesday and got an agent who said that it could not be priced, "there is no valid fare". After pressing a bit to try to get details, the woman said that I was back-tracking on the itinerary (which I am not). She transferred me back to Sales and I got the same person who setup my itinerary in the first place and he could NOT make sense of the issue. He sees it as a valid itinerary (as does the online tool, as do I).

Anyway, someone (maybe the woman I spoke to earlier) canceled my itinerary so the gentleman setup a new itinerary with the same flights, put some notes in asking to rush and stating that the itinerary appears to be a valid RTW fare and sent back to pricing.

We'll see how that goes... to be continued.

Depending on your time zone, you can probably skip the second step and call directly in SA.

I'm not entirely clear on your last step: did you phone the BA JNB office (while you were not in Africa) to make minor changes, and while on the phone, got the agent's email address, and then sent email to arrange a time for the agent to call you and get CC info?

My experience with AA and Mindpearl went the same as yours. I first tried "Reservations: +27 011-844-6067" as listed on AA's website and was quoted the rule that payment billing address MUST match country of origin or re-pricing was required.

I wonder if it would work to have AA create the PNR, then call BA to ticket? Since AA and BA use different GDSes, BA might not see the entire PNR, so it might not work.

Thanks everybody for the quick feedback, I'll proceed accordingly. For some reason, I get an error when I click through on the tool, so I never got as far as having the BA locator, which would save me having to run through each sector again on the phone. Other than not having QR on first flight and the lack of Australia/NZ flights showing up, are any of the segments below generally a problem with the online tool?

JNB-CPT-LHR-ZRH-NYC-ORD-EGE-ORD-MIA-ORD-PEK-CMB-KUL-REP-HKG-JNB

JNB-CPT-LHR-ZRH on BA (British)
ZRH-NYC-ORD-EGE-ORD-MIA-ORD-PEK on AA (American):td::confused:
PEK-CMB-KUL on UL (Sri Lankan)
CMB-KUL-REP on MH (Malaysia)
REP-HKG on KA (Dragonair)
HKG-JNB on CX (Cathay)

I was able to identify the issue with trying to move forward with the online tool. The ORD-PEK (AA Flight 187) is the issue; the tool shows it as available in business for every day in Sep 2016 but the BA agent was unable to find ANY availability in Business. I confirmed this by looking on expert flyer and sure enough D0 for just about EVERY flight. I'm not sure why AA would not be releasing D inventory on otherwise empty flights at this point... but anyway, that is why I was getting an error using the booking tool.

Now, I've switched to ORD-DFW-PEK which will put me on AAs 787 product; I did have 1 segment to spare and since I have yet to fly 787, I'm pushing forward with that itinerary. Now I have been able to get all the way to getting my PNR on the online tool, and it SHOULD be as simple as phoning BA JNB tomorrow am to get this thing booked. I'll come back and report here but I've got my fingers crossed and I'll be calling as soon as BA JNB opens tomorrow am.

If you don't need to make any changes to the itinerary, why not ticket via the online tool?

I just tried to book a trip, changing the original CPT-DOH to CPT-JNB-DOH-BUD (you can't book on the tool if QR first). I had priced a similar itinerary, CPT-LHR-BUD, also BA as initial carrier, and it was 80,000ZAR. Leaving London out brought the price to 73,723ZAR. So I put in all my travel information, went to pay and got a message "We are unable to confirm the fare for the flights you have selected. Please choose a different fare or flights and resubmit your request".

I think this is where you would have called Mindpearl with your flights. Maybe I'd get a new guy?? I think the consensus is to try to ticket through BA office in JNB--correct? Any other ideas? This is discouraging.

BA, in its wisdom, does it differently
If it is the first carrier then it does not complete the purchase in the online tool
Instead it gives you the PNR and instructs you to phone its office in the country of origin to complete the purchase

I did not realize this. Does it give you a price?

Yes, it shows the price including a breakdown of the taxes, fees and charges - just like you see with another airline using the online tool

IIRC the email BA sends you says the price is firm for 96hrs. If you don't pay within the 96hrs then the PNR is cancelled

So now I've called the BA JNB office twice and supplied my credit card information and was assured, both yesterday and today, that payment would be processed. I've seen nothing come through on my card and now the weekend is here and my reservation is likely to be canceled as it will break the 96hr hold mark.

Disappointed with BA JNB right now...
