There's surprisingly little discussion of xGLOB34 here.

I'm thinking of using a DGLOB34 to be able to visit either Tahiti or Fiji, starting in JNB.

Am I interpreting the rules correctly that I can bounce around with a TC region, e.g., between Tahiti and Asia? So, for example, I could fly LAX-NRT-PPT-HKG-JNB?

I know that I'll earn full AA miles and EQP/EQM for any AA codeshare, but what about an Air Tahiti Nui or Air Pacific flight coded as someone else such as QF? Will I earn AA EQP?

It's very hard to figure out a routing that works that lets me go to either NAN or PPT, especially if I want to stop in Los Angeles, and I'd prefer to fly AA over the water, and also prefer CX over QF for the start or end.

I'm not sure what you mean about bouncing around a TC region. If you go to the SWP one of your entries into asia must be a transit without stopover between the SWP and EUR(the same rule applies with a donex):

I meant going between SWP and Asia and back, e.g., NRT-PPT-HKG. I thought on an xONEx this wasn't permitted, but it seems like it is on an xGLOB34, but likely I'm not understanding the rules.

Yeah. I keep running into problems figuring out a good DGLOB34 route and end up going back to a DONE5 and giving up on PPT or NAN.

The rules are the same in this regard.

I once did an xGLOB34 starting in BKK when I needed to go to KWI. On the way home I did an AS SEA-FAI detour flight to see just how cold it was in winter (very!) and had a magnificent display of the northern lights at midnight while everyone else was sleeping. Needless to say, packing for extreme hot in KWI and extreme cold in FAI was difficult.

Only as stated in the rule I quoted. You can have 2 intercontinental departures and arrivals in Asia if "one is a transfer without stopover or on direct single plane service between the Southwest Pacific and Europe."

Some people have gotten tickets issued using the same rule for SWP-xAsia-NA.

My understanding is that xONEx and xGLOBnn rules are the same with the exception of the airlines involved (more on xGLOBnn) and the xGLOBnn is distance based.

I know people used to but lately people have reported that they haven't been able to get this booked at least with aa. Also the OP wasn't asking about using it in that manner in the routing he listed.

So, it's a violation to go LAX-NRT-PPT-HKG but LAX-PPT-HKG may be OK.

The rules also seem to say Air Pacific is always OK, but Air Tahiti Nui is only OK if a QF code.

It looks like (from EF) the TN LAX-PPT flight may be bookable as AA or QF, although I don't know if I'd earn full AA EAQ/EQM on a QF coded TN operated flight. And the TN flight in J doesn't seem near as nice as an AA in J, not to mention AA upgraded to F (if still available to NRT)

Last month I bought ex-KRT DONE4 tickets for Mrs pandaperth and me.
We will be flying ...YVR-xHKG-PER.. and will later return to Asia from SWP
Ticketed by the AA RTW desk, without any questioning of the transit of Asia.

And so it goes...back and forth, back and forth.
